They are right in a way. It will be next to impossible to fix it if you can't duplicate the problem, because you will never know if you found the problem.
Two common problems with Mopar products are the ASD relay and the pickup coil in the distributor.

1992 pontiac bonniville dies & wont start , sets a while then starts like normal. doesnt matter cold or hot

When it doesn't start check for fuel pressure, spark and injector pulse. If you got access to a scanner that could read live data check if you get an RPM reference. Check and report your findings.

My 2006 Ford Focus sometimes won't turn over. Had the battery and starter replaced and same problem. Happens about once a week. Hot or cold doesn't seem to matter. Just out of the blue it won't turn over....

Try moving the gear selector to neutral . If it starts then the transmission range switch (park neutral position switch ) That is if i'am under standing you correctly . When turning the key to the start position nothing happens ?

How long before a transmission is hot enough to slip

It should not be a matter of how hot, but when. If it only happens when the car is hot then I would check the level. While checking the level, I would see if there is any blackish stuff in the fluid. If there is then I would have your tranny rebuilt because the clutch material is breaking down and could be the cause of the slipage.

Engine shuts down while driving or some times just won't start

since its in the shop right now, have them check the fuel lines and injectors...what could be happening is that your engine could be starving for fuel because of a cloged line or injectors..
