Door locks and unlockgo down road

Before you begin to diagnose the problem, make sure you take some time to look over the problem and test out all of your door locks. Also, spend time "listening" to your door locks. Do you hear a buzzing sound? Does the lock sound like it is just getting stuck? Here is a break down of what to look for with different combinations of door lock failure. Four Doors/Multiple Doors Fail to Lock/Unlock If you have multiple doors or if all four doors fail to lock/unlock you could be looking at the worst case scenario - a wiring issue. Before you take it in though, try to change out the fuse and try manually locking the door. Each of these things will help you and/or your mechanic start narrowing down the problem.
A word of caution, if it is an electrical wiring issue, don't consider tackling it on your own unless you have lots of time and patience. These types of repairs can take a lot of time and create quite a bit of stress.
One Door Doesn't Lock/Unlock If you have one door that doesn't lock or unlock, you probably have either an actuator motor issue and/or the door lock is simply getting stuck. Here is how you fix it.
  1. Remove the door panel and look over the locking mechanism.
  2. If the lock is free from obstructions, it could be the actuator. Order a new motor from a Toyota authorized dealer like ours: parts.olathetoyota.com
  3. After you have the replacement part, it is simply a swap and reassemble process. Just make sure you take your time and don't bend anything. Surprisingly, the door locking mechanism can get out of whack quickly if things don't line up quite right. Take your time.
  4. Replace the door panel and pat yourself on the back.
Remote Lock/Unlock Fails, Button on Door Works If you can manually lock your doors or the lock/unlock button works inside the car, yet the key fob won't unlock the doors, you have a simple issue. Simply put, the battery is dead in your key fob. You can either open the key fob (squeeze on the sides) and get a replacement battery from a store. Or, you can bring your car to the dealer and they can replace it quickly and easily.
Power door locks sure are convenient, yet they are incredibly frustrating when they don't work. Hopefully one of these instructions above solved your problem.

Rear door will not open on my ford focus ghia t reg

Hi chance are the mechanism inside door jamming. Short of forcing off the inner panel in order to clean lubricate etc I find the best way to get this open is to get someone to keep activating your central locking open and shut while you simply keep trying the door handle at the same time and this can some times just catch the latch in just the right position to get the door open ( you dont need to forcefully be pulling on the handle as the latch will either simply click over on the fine spring latch mechanism or not force is not going to help).
Once and if you manage to get door open take off the inner door card panel and oil lubricate mechanism. rather than then shut door simply use a screw driver on latch to test and worth then working back and forth. If still jamming replace latch.

Last night the alarm went off locking the keys in the car. We had to use a hanger to get the keys out and now the alarm will not shut off?

The reason your alarm system is going off is because you used a coat hanger to open the door. This only proves that the system WORKS! It simply thinks that you are trying to steal the car - so it is screaming about it to tell on you!

To get the alarm to turn off, close and lock all of the doors (don't forget the keys :) ) Then use the KEY to open the driver's door. This should disarm the system and the security light will stop flashing and the horn and headlams should turn off and everything should be back to normal.

Replace front speakers

You would have to open the door panel to replace front speakers. Look for any screws around the door handle. look at the whole door panel for any screws so that you may remove the panel in order to reach the speakers. once the panel is free from any visible screws, use a door panel remover ($5-10) and use it to pry off the panel, use it around the door panel push-in connectors, and don't use extreme force, may break connectors. once the connectors around the whole panel are removed. make sure your window is down before the whole procedure. then pick up the panel from the bottom (push up), then the panel should be off the door, if you want to change the speakers, you don't need to take any of the wiring to the window/door lock. simply remove the cover if any over the stock speakers, usually some screws. once the cover/screws are off. the speaker should come off. You will see two wires off the speakers (the red(positive) the black(negative)), once the stock speaker is removed, simply attatch the new speaker to the wires. make sure the negative and positive from the car DO NOT TOUCH, you WILL short circuit and blow a fuse, maybe worse, and it's not worth the time fixing. hope this helps, good luck.

I can't open my gas tank on my 1996 mercedes benz c220

take a flat-tip screwdriver and with someone inside the car have them try to open it while you gently pry on the cover, then once it is open spray the latch with WD40 or some-other lubricant. Hope this helps Tim

Doors won't lock from the remote key or side pannel driver's seat. Sometimes they lock and other times they don't. Also, when I try to lock the door using the key it works at times.

Without knowing your vehicle type I would have to say this is most likely a relay issue. The good news is that they're not expensive and they're easy to replace. Look in your owner's manual and it will tell you where under the hood the door lock relay is located. They simply pull out to unplug and push back in to reinstall. Give this a try and see if it doesn't fix the problem for you. Hope this helps, good luck!
