Question about 1998 Plymouth Neon

Makes a clanking clicking noise in reverse

When I put my car into reverse and start to turn the wheel on the passenger side of the car is this loud noise.I can only say its a cross between a fast clank and a clicking. I was told that it may possibly be a CV joint or boot or something like that and I'm just trying to verify that it can be this or that this is the right thing to check and if there are any other possibilities of what it could be. Thank you

A most likely suspect would be your CV joint on your front axle. It usually makes a clicking noise while turning sharply, when they first start to fail. Often you can visually inspect them, and see a torn boot , or leaking grease, but you are most likely in need of a rebuilt axle installed. When I change them, I usually just replace both axles, and wheel bearings at the same time, since the car is apart.

2004 Pontiac Grand AM SE Makes a clanking noise when I turn to the left. It also makes a loud hum and clanking when a cross wind comes from the drivers side of the car. Any thoughts?

You may have a worn out CV joint and a bad wheel hub. Have them both inspected and replace any worn parts. A bad CV joint will cause your to be stranded out some where is it fails and a bad wheel hub will cause your wheel to fly off it it fails. best place to have the work done would be a transmission shop, since there always working on drive line components. Good luck and call around for the best price.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and it makes a loud noise

Bad front wheel bearing on the drivers side. When you turn left it shifts more of the vehicles weight to the passenger side and takes the pressure off of the drivers side. Not uncommon but will need attention soon. Hope this helps

CV joints yes look at the rubber boots for damage. You can get a replacement boot but if you do remove all the old grease to remove any dirt that is cousing your problem.
