Hello! The problem you are experiencing is most likely due to a fautly or malfunctioning alternator. You can take the car to any major auto parts store, and they can do a FREE charging system test which will tell you if your alternator is operating (and charging the battery) properly, as well as if your battery is accepting the incoming charge from the alternator.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Start car. Then diconnect your positive cable while car is running. If car stalls after taking off cable then its your alternator. To verify this take to autozone and they can do the load test

Why do I have all these codes on in my 04 Pontiac grand prix gt. U1000,u1300,u1016,u1064,u1096

There is a Pontiac Technical Service Bulletin addressing your exact issue, right down the the same exact codes you are getting. Here is the information I gathered and I will place a link to the page where I found it. You will need to scroll down the list of TSBs to find your specific one. Apparently this is a problem for the Grand Prix.

Here is the basic data:

TSB Number: 0308116001 NHTSA Number: 10002880 TSB Date: February 1, 2004 Date Added to File: September 30, 2003 Failing Component: Electrical System Summary: Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1000, U1016, U1064, U1096 or U1305 set in error. This bulletin replaces previous bulletin dated 06/01/2003.

Hi
Here's the link to the Owner's Manual if yours isn't available. It will describe how to reset the 'pass key' system.

Wiper not moving on an 04 grand prix. Tried installing a new motor and the problem is still there? Also saw "charging system failure" appear could this be the problem?

About the wiper not moving....Try adjusting the bolt to the wiper, it could be loose and the motor could be working but since the wiper is loose it wont turn with the motor....I had this happen. Exept i didnt replace the motor and it worked fine.

Charging System Failure

usually one of two things, alternator or battery. most auto shops will test your battery for free. they'll also test alternator but you'll have to take it out yourself. good luck.

Charging System Failure Light

This is a common problem with these cars. I have had it come on also a couple of times. No need to worry unless it stays on.
