Question about 2005 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

No start condition with my 2005 Ford Expedition. Engine spins but doesn't start. Have tried starter fluid. You can hear fuel pump start. Sounds as if there is not spark. Have checked all fuses and relays. Battery was replaced within the week. New A/C compressor, Drier, and serpentine belt installed. Once that repair was completed the no start condition presented itself. What should I try??

Thank you for the feedback. The problem ended up being a bad crank position sensor. When the belt broke it apparently hit the sensor. No visual damage was there but when I replaced, the engine fired right up.

.Never use starting fluid you can ruin the engine fast.check all wiring to coils. get a spark tester pull a plug and turn it over watch for spark.

IF IT WILL RUN WITH STATER FLUID YOU HAVE A FUEL ISSUE. SINCE PUMP SOUNDS DIFFERENT I WOULD START THERE. CHECK FOR VOLUME & PRESSURE ON FUEL RAIL IF IT NOES NOT THEN THE PROBLEM IS IGNITON, CHECK FOR SPARK

My 1999 the engine keeps just shut off while driving down the road the engine keeps turning but wont crank I put some engine starter in the carb.and it tried to start.could it be the fuel pump

if it was the fuel pump engine should start with starter spray at least for a second or two, so, it sounds like your fuel pump is bad.
turn ignition to run and try hearing the pump run.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE LOCATION OF THE RELAY FUEL PUMP TO MY 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE SUV KEEPS ON TRYING TO START, BUT IT'S NOT READING THAT GAS IS PASSING THROUGH AND WE USED STARTER FLUID AND IT TURNED...

Relay in fuse box under hood most are square and gray. The inside lid of box should tell you which one. If relay is OK then get ready to buy a fuel pump.

nest step is to dicconnect harness at fuel pump and check for voltage there, if so then pump is faulty if not look for fuel pump reset location found in owners manual

Only starts when starter fluid is sprayed into intake and then only for a sec, what is wrong

Fuel filter could be plugged, check to see if fuel pump is working, when you turn on your ignition you should hear a bussing sound from under rear of vehicle for a few seconds. If you don't hear this check for blown fuel pump relay or fuse

Expedition won't start or even act like it wants to. Just cranks and cranks. I feel it might be fuel pump.

easy way to test for it being fuel.open air filter box spray alittle starter fluid.then try starting if it runs or fires over its fuel related.if not then its sensor or fuse related.hope that helps.make sure the fluid is ma safe.meaning mass airflow sensor safe.as some starter fluids will mess them up.
