Saturn LS2 1998. Front passenger window won't close.
Saturn LS2 1998. Front passenger electric window won't close. We can't leave it open. The other buttons work. You can see it's not the fuse b/c the dashboard lights dim when you move it, but it feels likes it's shifted from its proper place. Help. I can't leave it open.

For the passenger front window, turn vehicle on, have someone hold the up or down button for the window (assuming these are electric windows) and pound with your fist in the center of the inner door panel. Generally the window will begin moving if the problem is associated with the electronic detection of the window's position. This is a temporary fix and it will recur until the window motor or actuator are replaced (depending on which part is faulty). For the top, try having someone hold the trunk closed while you attempt to close the top.

He could have been more helpful and explained it's likely some broken wires in the door openings. Check carefully the wire harness in the front driver's door and in the passenger front door, where wires get stressed the most when opening and closing doors. The driver's window switch is the master switch for all windows, check there and the other doors openings for broken wires. Splice back together any broken wires you find and recheck windows. Hope you find it. If not there, but somewhere else in the harness, you would probably need professional help to find it.
Glad you figured it out, Chuck. A good fix. BTW, that brown hot wire does not go up to switch. It comes from the fuse panel, on a circuit that receives power when key is on. It may be broken in or on one side of the boot. When I found a broken ground wire for my windows there, I did not have to cut the boot, but compressed it back and forth till seeing the break. You may be of the mind set "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", as I tend to be, so I'll, leave it at that. It IS nice to have power windows again.
The window regulator may have broken. If you can here movement inside the door when pushing the switch, chances are it's a broken cable. If not, it may be a stuck motor. You can sometimes free it up by sitting in the passenger seat, push switch to up, and while holding switch, slam the door closed.
