Question about Saturn L-Series

Saturn LS2 1998. Front passenger window won't close.

Saturn LS2 1998. Front passenger electric window won't close. We can't leave it open. The other buttons work. You can see it's not the fuse b/c the dashboard lights dim when you move it, but it feels likes it's shifted from its proper place. Help. I can't leave it open.

Does the window move at all? If so, then it may have come off the track inside the door. Otherwise the window motor may be going bad. You will need to remove the door panel to investigate.

Windows on passenger side front and rear won't work, up or down.

He could have been more helpful and explained it's likely some broken wires in the door openings. Check carefully the wire harness in the front driver's door and in the passenger front door, where wires get stressed the most when opening and closing doors. The driver's window switch is the master switch for all windows, check there and the other doors openings for broken wires. Splice back together any broken wires you find and recheck windows. Hope you find it. If not there, but somewhere else in the harness, you would probably need professional help to find it.

Glad you figured it out, Chuck. A good fix. BTW, that brown hot wire does not go up to switch. It comes from the fuse panel, on a circuit that receives power when key is on. It may be broken in or on one side of the boot. When I found a broken ground wire for my windows there, I did not have to cut the boot, but compressed it back and forth till seeing the break. You may be of the mind set "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", as I tend to be, so I'll, leave it at that. It IS nice to have power windows again.

How do I remove the interior door covering of a Saturn relay to determine why the passenger's window does not close?

Assuming it's an electric window, it's likely the window switch or window motor. You can search via internet on how to remove the door panel on your model. Most recent door panels are similar in the way they are attached so you can look at some online and compare them to yours in the way they are attached. It's usually pop-in clips and a few screws. Careful not to break the clips while pulling them out. A flat putty knife works well for this to GENTLY pry the panel up as close to the clip as possible.

Front passenger window won't go back up.

The window regulator may have broken. If you can here movement inside the door when pushing the switch, chances are it's a broken cable. If not, it may be a stuck motor. You can sometimes free it up by sitting in the passenger seat, push switch to up, and while holding switch, slam the door closed.
