No you do not need to remove the engine. Transmission will come out from the bottom but you need to have the car high enough to do this. also you need an engine support Fixture that attaches to top of engine and top of engine compartment, to hold engine while transmission is removed and installed to replace clutch.

Yes,this is true, can be done in the driveway, but jacks and jack stands(good ones)are needed, and a stabilizer for the engine.Removal of the axles tie rods ball joints on both sides, and brake calipers to start with.A stablelizer can be made with two treated two by fours bolted together with about six bolts and washers, cut to fit across the inner finders(where the hood lays in).Ahole drilled in the middle of the two by fours(where the 2 bys meet),and putt a 7 or 8 inch eye bolt, with nuts and washers.this will hold the engine up,so you can remove the transmission.

This morning my 1993 Subaru Legacy seemed to just die on me. I was about to pull out of the driveway when it made a popping noise and died. it wont start but the engine is turning over. i looked it up and...

Hi it is true in a way as subaru engines are classed as destructive when timing belts break causing it to bend valves, however if you were just idling or going slow at time of breakage it is common for some motors to survive perfectly so best bet is get it checked out before scrapping it completly as it may only need a new belt. If the belt has broken when you wind the car over it will sound completly diff, but just remove 1 of the 3 front covers to find out as the belt will be floppy

I have a 86 ford f-250 w/ a carbed 460.no fuel to carb. was told i had very low oil pressure.would changing oilpump and assending unit fix my propblem? do i have to pull motor to change oilpump? what...

If you're not getting fuel to the carburetor, check/change your fuel filter, check the fuel pump. And for the oil pressure you can change the oil pressure sending unit to see if thats the problem, for the oil pump the oil pan has to come off, it can be changed without pulling the engine, however you still have to lift the engine up.

How extensive is replacing a cluthc on a 2005 ford Escape front wheel drive 2.3l 4cyl?

Any clutch job reqires you to remove the transmission,as I would assume you know.

Not a driveway job.

Any work involving a transaxle, drive axles, clutches, really needs an indoor lift.

Why in 2010 would you own a clutch?
My last clutch was in 1973

no remove gearbox but you might need to lower subframe to gain access ,use an engine lift to support gearbox or a block and tackle so you can pull it out and not have to lower it
