My 1995 Mazda B2300 Truck, 2-dr. 4cyl. When driving up hills mostly, it engine sounds like it's dieseling, loses power, and the oil gauge goes crazy. Help?

Check your vacuum pump, that pump does all the switching of your sensor valves and ports. That would be my guess

What type oil does my Mazda Protege use

Your car is nothing fancy I take it, not a race car?, diesel? Just a normal car that burns gas. Then it will take normal oil, in the 10w40 weight range. Any brand but jiffy store, although it meets SAE standards, the weight is the important part, it depends on where you live and what season it is. If you live in Canada and it is winter time, 10w40 might be too thick, you should go with 5w30 instead, in Massachusetts, straight 30 weight is ok, down here in Florida, 10w40 is a must. Hot. So, go by that heat range, you should be all set. Hope this helps.

I have a mazda 6 2 litre diesel eating oil, what

Mazda say that if your Mazda 6 consumues less than a litre every 900 miles then it within tolerance.
However these cars have a complicated induction mechanism controld by lots of diffrent vacume pots that are inturn controlled by servos, when any one of these becomes faulty the pressure balance between the exhaust side of the turbo and the inlet side becomes inbalanced, resulting in oil being forced through the turbos bearings. Its that simple lol!
The first thing I would check would be the swirl control valve, In the inlet manifold, This gets fouled up by the exhaust gases getting recycled by the egr valve(exhaust gas recycler)
Sooty deposits mix with oil coming from your turbo and jam it closed restricting the amount of air into the engine, and reducing power as well as creating black smoke from your exhaust.
So my advice would be to get your egr valve proffetionally blanked off, and have your induction system checked over.
Hope this helps as I am sure this is a very common problem!

I have a mazda 6 2 litre diesel eating oil, what oil do I put in? The oil light keep flashing the Mazda people told me it was the oil switch had that replaced and still eating the diesel like mad. The car...

Check your owners manual for the grade and type of oil. Probably a CD4 15W40. Make sure you use oil specifically designed for diesel engines...just any old oil will not work. Also, stick with one brand; each oil manufacture puts different additives which "flush" out of the engine when a different brand is used. It may take a couple of changes with the same brand, but you should see a decrease in oil comsumption.
