Question about 1988 Cadillac Fleetwood
This is not intended for the novice-however if it is a telecopic steering wheel-not just a tilt. You will need not only a steering wheel puller, and a compresor for the plate , but a metric insert for the telescopic area of the shaft-LOts of things can go arie if you have no experiance in this-It is even tough for begining Locksmiths.

What i can recall the only removable electronics is the complete turn signal assembly or the other would be the electronic piece that is actually the key reminder buzzer that reminds when key is left in ignition while engine is off...This looks like two flat copper match sticks attatched to a 1 inch piece of plastic... Well enough of my guesing.. if you were to go to an auto parts store and look at a motors repair manual for a chevy steering column little if anything has actually changed in the design with the tilt steering column which is probably why you originally took it apart because of the tilt torx bolts coming loose... I hope you used locktite when you reassembled to makesure it doesnt happen again....Good Luck

First do you have a sterring wheel puller. Can't remove the steering wheel without one. Quite an involved job including snaking the electrical connector end through the steering column. I wouldn't recommend it to the novice

You probably have problems with transmission switch wich is on "Park" at that time, but sensor sends a signal that transmission is in gear. Try to start your car on "Neutral". It might help and indicate a problem for shure
