Check the coolant level first, make sure the coolant fans come on.If these 2 things are good suspect a bad thermostat

Check coolant level if its very low probably have a leak.Check your temp. sensors on the block near the water neck. and also the thermostat

First off are you sure you installed the thermostat right side out ? It is easy to install backwards . Second is make sure you filled your cooling system up completely . I usually fill the system and run with cap off for about ten minutes and add coolant as needed till it stays full .

Why do they want to replace the compressor?noisy?If you can put a charge on the ac then it's hot again after a day,then you have a leak.all the ac lines have o-rings where they are connected.without put dye in the system you wont know for sure.So I would try that first.
