It is a coolant sensor(it is not a fan sensor)The difference is that the coolant sensor tells the ecm(computor)the temp,so it can regulate along with other sensors, the engine performance, including turnnig off,and turnnig on,the cooling fans.It is usally in the intake, and near the water outlet. It has two wires. It will be the only sensor in a water jacket.ts 4052 is the part number at napa auto partswhere is the fan sensor? - 104137.jpgIf I can help.>>roniecon@gmail.com

Sensors for radiator Fan ? What sensor ? The coolant temperature sensor is an input to the PCM - engine computer ! When the engine temperature reaches 200 degree's the PCM energizes 1 to 3 Cooling fan relay's in the battery junction box (fuse-relays ) The low speed fan relay , High speed fan control relay 1 , an high speed fan control relay 2 . Now what problem are you having ? Go on you tube an check out videos on testing cooling fan's , testing relay's .Before you replace a sensor you don't need too .

All newer models have electric fans, you have sensors and relays that tell the fan to turn on and off,you can test if your fan is dead or your sensor or relay.from your fan follow wire until you find a connection plug, usually about 20 inches from fan. disconnect plug and run two jumper wires to your battery. this will tell you if fan is problem. continue following wires to find sensor, use test light when engine is running and getting hot to see if power is making it to sensor.if it is your sensor is not sending power to fan. if no power is making it to sensor, check fuse box on firewall of engine compartment for fen relay some models have 2. Or you can hook the fan up to constant power when car is running via the fuse box under dash, or hook fan up to a toggle switch mounted to your dash, either way you need to run new wires from your fan

1992 Ford Tempo Coolant Fan

the "sensor " near the thermostat should have 2 ,3 or 4 wires to it
if it only has one wire , that is the temp gauge sender unit and not the coolant sensor the coolant temp sensor reports to the ecm and that unit then switches on the fan relay that spins the fan
if you unplug the coolant sensor and the fan starts to run you have a serious coolant temp sensor circuit problem
take it to an accredited service center and have it sorted

Engine fan won't come on

IF COOLANT FAN FUSE AND RELAY OKAY.HOT WIRE COOLANT FAN TO SEE IF FAN MOTOR OKAY.IF FAN MOTOR OKAY.THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR MORE LIKELY BAD.THE ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR WHEN ENGINE COOLANT GETS HOT IT CAUSES ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE TO DECREASE CAUSE COMPLETE CIRCUIT IN WHICH POWER FROM PCM TO ECT SENSOR WILL SENT POWER TO COOLANT FAN RELAY THEN CAUSE COOLANT FAN TO TURN ON. HAVE ECT SENSOR OR ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK USING CODE SCANNER TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING BEFORE SPENDING EXCESS MONEY.

Hello. My 97 Plymouth Grand Voyager's radiator fans are not running when the temperature is up. The fans do work, and I replaced the relay. Could my sensor not be working even if my gauge is reading in the...

could be bad temp sensor or bad wire connection to fan motor. to check fan; get 2 wires long enough to reach from connector plug of fan to battery., put one on hot and the other on ground and check fan motor. if good, then its either a relay or temp sensor or cut wire somewhere between temp sensor and fan motor. check to see if your getting power from battery to sensor/fan

Hi!!

There should be a fuse/relay box in the engine compartment close to the battery, If your vehicle is equiped with two fans, there should be two relays. There has to be a cooling fan(if equiped with two) that comes in as soon as you turn the A/C on, is your vehicle has one fan, it has two speeds, when the A/C is turned on, the Hi speed kicks in. Sensors in this circuit that are relevant to this function are, Coolant Temp. Sensor, Engine Temp. Sensor.

Check fuses/relays for the cooling fan(s), if OK, check sensors.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!!

Where is the cooling fan speed sensor on my 2002 trailblazer?

Hi.
The cooling fan speed sensor is built in inside the fan clutch.
If you have a code p1481 or similar , pointing at the cooling fan speed sensor, often you have to fix or replace the wiring , rather that the sensor.
Check that wiring has continuity, the wire to sensor must have +5V. Here an interesting website on trailblazer fan system.
Regards.

Cooling fan wont work

The water temp sensor is located near the thermostat housing. This sensor is what tells the ECM to turn the fan on/off. The water temp sending unit is located near the same area. You know you have the correct sensor is because the water temp sensor has a 2 prong plug. The water temp sending unit only has 1 prong.
