Use a test light, test for power and ground at the bulb contacts. Then test for power and ground at the wires. Probably needs a new socket, common problem.

Replacing 92 Explorer right rear signal bulb

laurbeee,

As I have just seen this post I may be late in answering.

1. Open the hatch and look for the two screws on top of the tailight.
2. Take these out with a No.3 Phillips head screwdriver.
3. Pull on the tailight gently outward as the plastic inserts are what holds the lens in the body.
4. Locate the lamp for replacement and twist the lamp socket out of the lens.
5. Replace the bulb with the new one making sure to leave it clean of any oils from your hands. Twist the socket back into the lens.
6. Reasemble the lens back into the body and replace screws.

HOW TO REPLACE STOP LIGHT BULB ON 1999 FORD ESCORT WAGON

Open your trunk or hatch, you may have to pull back the carpet that will cover the tailight lens mounts on the inside. There are 3-or 4 plastic wing nut style nuts behind the light in the trunk. remove these, and pull the lens out from the outside. the lighs will turn usually counter clockwise. replace burnt bulbs. replace the lens, and refasten the nuts carefully.

Stop light bulb replace

Believe it or not, for the Taurus wagon, Ford wants you to take it in to the shop. The Taurus wagon tail light assembly is really a stupid design. I will do my best to describe it here. You must remove the two phillip screws on the tailight assembly, seen when you have the hatch door up. The trick is the assembly is still held with a hinge type, snap in deal that holds the front part of the assembly tight to the body side. You might be able to see or access it from inside the spare tire cover or the access door on the passenger side. Being oh so careful to release the clip so you can pull the assembly free to change the bulb. Hope this is some help.

The tail lamp / break lamp uses bulb number 3157.
