I recently bought a 05 Chevy Equinox and I have been having problems with the battery dies overnight or at random times, any suggestions?

If you've checked all your connection, you've tested the alternator loaded and unloaded and you did a load test on the battery and found it all good, then you probably do have a drain. I would put a DVM on the battery and see if it slowly drops in voltage, if it does, start pulling your fuses, 1 by 1 until the drain stops, then you'll know what circuit is draining the battery. I had a drain going on awhile back, before I pulled the fuses out of the 2000 Chevy van, I sat in it, in the dark everything off and doors closed, I found that the glove box door wasn't shutting all the way and the light inside was draining the battery. Good luck

Several modules are always powered. What is the typical current drain on the battery when the key is OFF?

Vary low should never make no start conduition.
Sounds like you have a muility meter to ask for voltages .
Try this disconnect the negitive from the battery .Set the meter on the 20 volt DC scale .Go red lead to posivite and black to engine block or any known solid ground .If you read voltage something is shorting
If the voltage 2 -3 volts it could be switches lights ect .If its 5 volts or over then its something that draws a lot of power like a bad motor .
At any rate if you read voltage pos to gr with gr disconnect from bat their is a short .
You can try pulling fuses 1 at a time to see when it stops .This will tell you what circuit the problem is on and sometimes the starting motor will short interinaly this will kill the bat fast

Heater issue, driver side of 2004 Chevy Avalanche

1. Place the ignition switch in the off position.
2. Remove the HVAC/ECAS fuse for 10 seconds or more. It's in the under hood fuse box. Put the temp in full cold.
3. Install the fuse.
4. Start the engine. DO NOT TOUCH THE HVAC CONTROLS FOR LESS THAN 45 SECONDS.
5. Have any codes cleared with a scan tool.

On 1973 Ford LTD the battery runs down while

dear friend-the voltage that you are measuring is battery voltage and as soon as you try to start the vehicle it will drop to 9 volt which is not enought to start.if you remove the pos, battery clamp and put a test light between the pole and the terminal and and the light lites up then there is a draw running the battery flat.

Well if lights are not staying on then you have a draw of power somewhere. Easy way to find out is volt meter. You take off negative cable and put one end of meter to battery post and other to wire dont let the wire touch post or anyother metal of vehicle. Then go through your fuse box and pull fuse's one at a time until you see voltage on meter drop. Meter should should a (-)negative voltage at start and get smaller when right fuse is pulled take notes and pull all one at a time and replace back in orginal spot. If you find one that really lowers the negative voltage draw on meter good chance you found where problem is. Id start by checking all interior lights first, including glovebox.

Chevy Avalanche won't start

If you're getting no power at all when you turn the key to start, try disconnecting the battery and then hook it back up. Chevy has had some problems with an ignition relay solenoid that's mounted under the driver's side dash. Disconnecting power could reset the switch....If that seems to be it, a replacement is around $250. at a chevy dlrshp.
