Question about 1993 Ford Tempo

1 Answer

I have a 1993 Ford Tempo manual transmission and it won't start. For about two weeks before it stopped starting it would start fine sometimes, other times it wouldn't start at all and then sometimes it would start and then quickly stall thereafter as if it ran out of gas. I checked the sparkplugs and wires and they are okay. I replaced the fuel filter and the gas that came out of the old one was quite dirty. The car however still won't start. Do I need to bleed the air out of the fuel system, check the fuel pump or maybe the timing belt. I'm not sure. Could you give me some direction with this. Thanks!

Do you know how to check for spark ? How to test fuel pressure with a tool called a fuel pressure gauge ? If all you can do is guess your better off taking to a qualified repair shop . You'll spend more money replacing parts guessing then it would cost at a qualified repair shop . Without testing that's all anyone on here would be doing , guessing ! There are videos on youtube showing how to do these test's , but like i said you will need some special tools !

It could be a lot of things, check the gas cap, vacuum leak, IAC, may need a tune-up ( check plugs, wires, air filter), seizing pulley, timing issue (check CKP sensor and CMP sensor), sticking valves, misfire, Fuel line pressure, or an issue with CAT or muffler.Good luck.

Cranks over, but won't start? The little ignition module on the side of your distributor is often the problem. It can be tested.
