If it's a 2.3L 4 cylinder it may need a timing belt. They should be replaced every 60,000 miles ar so.

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0L 2WD. I have been having a problem where I will stop at a place turn my truck off go right back to it and it will start but it won't even finish spooling up before it...

You have a IAC problem (Idle Air Control) This may or may not set off a drivability code you may be able to clean it and restore it the proper way is to remove it and use brake cleaner (This is waht the dealer use) They dont want you to use carburator cleaner it just works temporarycansmo_50.gifcansmo_51.gif

85 ford ranger idles up high then drops down and will die unless give it a little gas. heard it could be egr. where is that on motor? thanks for your help!!!!

it could be the egr valve, located driverside at rear of engine, will have an electrical plug in to it also, simly unplug and 2 bolts that hold it onto the motor. but i do suggest you check it for a bad idle control sensor 1st look on top of motor at the air induction for a round silver canister about 4inches long and 2inches round with an eletrical plug in ,it will have 2 small bolts holding it onto the motor. i suspect that to be your problem, unless it misses bad while driving it. if your only problem is with the idle, i suggest you start with that idle control sensor 1st and as always thank you for choosing fixya.com

1984 RANGER IDLE PROMLEM...WONT IDLE CORRECTLY.

First check:
Your EGR valve is carbon up and is sticking open. You have to take it off and clean with carbon cleaner. (EGR controls idle)

Second check:
Could be fuel pump is starting to go on it.

Sounds like the idle bypass valve is nfg. Try checking engine codes first. Try this link, you'll find it helpful. http://autorepair.about.com/od/troubleshooting/a/OBD_codes.htm . If you need to know how to check the codes, ask back here, I'll explain. Hope this helps.

A 1995 chevy s-10 blazer will not start because of flooding.

I had the same problem but not with the popping sound. Try checking your vacuum hoses. My problem was with the PCV Valve elbow. It is located under the air intake hose.
