Instrument Panel Lights

Daytime headlight issue ? No , no sensor behind the front bumper . No Daytime time head lamp issue , doesn't turn on the instrument panel light's . This is more then likely a remote dimmer module problem .
Interior Lights Dimming Circuit Description (Pontiac)
When the park lights are on, battery positive voltage (B+) is applied via CKT 32 (YEL) to the remote dimmer module. The interior dimming switch in the lamp dimmer switch is a variable resistor which applies the dimming input via CKT 44 (DK GRN) to the remote dimmer module. The potentiometer in the lamp dimmer switch cannot provide enough current in order to operate the incandescent lights. The remote dimmer module amplifies the current, applying a variable voltage to the incandescent lights. As the amount of current increases, the lamps become brighter. As the amount of current decreases, the lamps become dimmer.
The radio, heater and A/C control assembly, instrument cluster, and passenger climate control each has a vacuum fluorescent (VF) display. When each module receives an input that the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, each module activates the VF display at the full intensity. When the park lights are on, the radio receives the dimming level from an input on CKT 8 (GRY). The radio then relays this information to any other modules with VF displays. All modules with VF displays then adjust the dimming level of their VF display in order to match the level of the incandescent lamps.

I have a 98 prand prix gtp with 68,000 actual miles. heads up display is real dim. rear view mirror is cloudy. cd player just quit.says e 20

Are you not the original owner? That sounds suspiciously like this car has been in water or it was stored in a very humid environment for an extended period.

You should pull up the carpet and inspect the floorboards for rust. If all is well with water exposure then you can either close the windows and run the A/C on maximum for a while or leave all the doors open until the fogginess dissipates.
The cause of the dim displays and fogged mirror has the same effect on the laser lens of the CD player. It may be more common on interiors that were cleaned recently from any of the cleaning agent or protectant remaining behind on the surfaces that might cloud when on cold acrylic plastics, more so when given the right environment.

You could also try using a hair dryer on these surfaces on a low setting.

@gmail.comin my 2006 mazda3i, the sound system diplay unit stoped working. the sound system still works fine, ijust cant see anything on the diplay. -help- all fuses are good.

if it is still under a bumper to bumper warranty, take it to a dealer. if not under warranty it will be cheaper to buy a used replacement radio than to have that one removed, the display fixed, and reinstalled. someone out there took a similar radio out of their mazda and upgraded to something more thief attractive. their old one is sitting for sale on a shelf at a car stereo store, a junkyard, or ebay.

Headlights and radio display goes off sometimes

Certain circuits go through the ignition switch and sometimes the points in the switch become gummed up with carbon. The easiest fix is to replace the ignition switch. The switch can, however, be disassembled and cleaned by a skilled mechanic (there are many small springs and parts that have to be assembled properly).

Long story short, replace the ignition switch.

Hope this helps

Head Lights go dim, instrument panel goes dim when I turn on my Headlights

Does it go completely black or just dim? Most displays dim when you turn the lights on to make the display darker so its not too bright. GPS and other displays do this. Do you have any problems with any other of the car's electronics?

Heads up display

had the exact same problem in 2005 (car was only a year old)....believe or not i was able to fix the problem without removing anything from the dash except the clear plastic shield that prevents debris from falling into the HUD compartment...I did it very, very carefully so as not to damage it.....I then had a buddy look in from outside while i "Blindly" reconnected the spring with his verbal guidance....it was a real pain...but we got it done...without spending $500.00 too!!! Dealership technicians will tell you anything to get in to the shop...they are in the business of making a ton of money AT YOUR EXPENSE!!!...whatever happen to good old fashion troubleshooting, and thinking outside the box??

hi amanda this kind of cars have very coming problem with the a/c control head wich is the swtch assembly where you turn the a/c on, i'm almost positive tahn you need a new or used digital display or head control for a/c wich is the same but people call it diferent, before you take it to an auto repair and have them charge you for guessins or trying to find the problem, get another a/c control head and have them replace it, good luck
