Radiator fan not switching off when engine not running flattening battery

That an electrical short. The fan relay or the fan switch sounds like the troublemaker. when the ignition is off, the fan shut down. The relay is an "on & off" switch for the fan.If the relay is "sticking" in the on position, the fan will continue to run until the battery dies. Same scenario if your Polo is equipped w/ a fan switch. If the switch is stuck on, the fan runs. There's the short. get someone u trust to ck that out. Good Luck, happens all the time.

The primary radiator fan does not come on.

Check Maxi fuse #3 60 amp in the under hood electrical center #1 .This is power for the #1 cooling fan . Also check the #1 fan control relay in the same under hood electrical center .
These vehicles use 2 360 mm (14.2 in) cooling fans to aid air flow through the radiator. Electric motors drive the cooling fans. These motors are attached to the radiator. Motor size varies with each engine option.
A coolant temperature switch activates the fan motors. This switch regulates voltage to the cooling fan relay. This switch operates the fan whenever the engine coolant temperature exceeds 110°C (230°F). For location and diagnosis, refer to Electrical Diagnosis. A transducer can also activate the circuit, depending on the A/C compressor head pressure going to the condenser.
The engine cooling fan relays provide the high current required for the cooling fan motors using a low current signal coming from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This signal is a function of various inputs.
Refer to Electrical Diagnosis for further information and diagnosis of the cooling fan relay.

Cooling fans will not run

By that year they should be electrically driven. Check your cooling fan relay, RDI fuse, and coolant temperature switch. See here p261

3.8litre ,electric fan continues to run killing battery.doesn't happen all the time.

It is most likely the fan relay is sticking and allowing the fan to run on, the relay is plugged into the fuse/relay box on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

Wher is the Fan Relay Switch

The fan relay switch is actually located on the electrical fan. There will be a fuse for this under the hood and under the dashboard, drivers side interior in most cases. You can isolate the problem by using some sires to create a connection between the battery and the fan to identify if the problem is before or after the hood fuse, the fan itself or fuse under the dashboard.

Where is the air conditioner blower fan relay on 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee located?

The blower fan relay is located in the fuse box on the driver's side fender-well. A Jeep Cherokee uses an electric fan as an auxiliary fan for engine cooling and for cooling the air conditioning condenser when the air conditioning is in operation. A radiator temperature-sensing switch that activates the fan relay at 198 degrees F turns the fan on and controls its operation. The temperature drops when the vehicle is in motion and the switch turns the fan off. When the air conditioning system is in operation, the air conditioning relay supplies power to the fan relay via a fan diode downstream from the ignition switch. This diode activates the fan relay and keeps the fan operating as long as the air conditioning is on. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Cooling fan no turn on & and relay speed control is good

relay for speed control is not related to cooling fan, the fan relay must be located, there is a repair manual with an electrical component locator in the software on ebay motors it is in CD form and is a valuable tool to diagnos electrical problems, in this case it is usually a fan relay or a fan temperature switch.
