The engine runs fine, but there is no power to the wheels. This just started today when there was a weird noise and then no power.

All fluids are good, wife was driving at the time and said she could get it to move but very slowly with really high RPMs, then nothing when she had to push it up the driveway.

My 2001 bmw 325 cic started making an awful grinding noise today when moving the steering wheel at all to the left or right. Can also hear the noise under the hood.

It sounds like your car is low on power steering fluid. When the power steering fluid is low, the power steering pump is running dry, which makes a grinding or moaning sound. Check the power steering fluid level and top up if necessary. It should be on the left side of the engine compartment. Your owners manual should have the exact location of the power steering reservoir, and what type of power steering fluid to use.
Good luck

Power steering probloms

Check for low power steering fluid. If the Fluid is at the proper level. "DO NOT OVERFILL". Then Check that the Power Steering Pump is working. Is the Serpentine Belt On the Pump Pulley? When you start the engine does the pulley spin? DO NOT TOUCH IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!!!
Do you get any Weird Noises when you turn the steering wheel?

I am focusing on the Power Steering Pump because if the pump is working properly there really isn't much else that could cause hard steering.

Good Luck.

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon. It was running fine until two days ago. I went to start it on Saturday and it would only make a clicking noise. I was able to start it with jumper cables. I drove for an hour...

i had the same exact problem with my chevy s-10, but once i replaced the battery it ran fine no problem, u may have fried some circuits and relays while jumping the car, and alot of times that clicking noise is your relay burning out, did your car start doing weird things too? like ejecting cd's, flashing lights really fast and weird noises?
