First you must determine if it has fire, and fuel pressure if so then injector pulse. Any OBD codes???? you really need a scanner to go any further without guessing.

The easiest way to relieve the fuel pressure is to start your engine and pull the Fuel Pump Relay - car should die. Now there is no fuel pressure. Turn the key to the off position and change out the fuel filter. Once the filter is changed, put the relay back in and prime the system - turn the key on (don't start) for a few seconds. Turn off, turn key on for a few seconds then start the car. Check for leaks by filter. Easy peasy. Hope this was helpful :-)

I have a 92 dodge stealth sohc when i got it it had fuel issues i replaced fuel filter, spark plugs, distributer cap and roter. Seemed to run fine after that but now it overheats and problems start over. I...

I owned a 91 model--glad you have the sohc as the dohc has real problems.

some general thoughts:

The relay is possible but does the electric fan come on? If it does not after 10 minutes it will overheat.

Saw two where water pump caused same issue.

Check for possible head gasket leaking(compression tested?)

Another valuable resource I have used is the Socal 3S club located in the LA area of California---they have a online forum with areas for problems and solutions---free to join and they have several segments for parts and problems and general back and forth.

Again my experience here is based on owning both a SOHC and a Twin Turbo made in 91-----not like working on a ford...........

Let me know if I can help in any way----you are more likely to get good help from one of the many forums dedicated to these cars than here.

My money says it is the ECU (engine control unit) early 90's Mitsubishi's are known for poor capacitors in their ECUs. If the car is not starting, if it has spark but no fuel my first money is that of the ECU. If it has fuel but no spark I expect something within the electronics.

Is this engine the SOHC or DOHC.

If you need to replace the ECU there is a MD number you need to use to match the proper unit. The ECU is located under the stereo, remove the two interior flaps (carpet strips) that cover the shifter are. The ECU has 3 large electical plugs, remove these and unbolt the (3) 10MM bolts to get the ECU out

I have owned and replace three Mitsubishi veichles with bad ECU, one of which is my son's 93 Dodge Stealth with 3.0 SOHC.

Please let me know if this had assisted you.

Thanks,
Tom
