Question about 2000 BMW 3 Series

1 Answer

My 2001 bmw 330 steering is playing up. It is OK one mintue and the next I have a real resistance to slow speed left turns which wiwll then clear. Sounds like a mechanisal problem in the steering column or in the rack. Any ideas? It isnt the springs - they are both fine. Bit puzzled that it seems to come and go

With the engine cold, open the hood and check the play in the power steering belt, it sounds loose.Look at it close before you tighten it, it may need replaced if it looks at all dry or shaggy.
I hope this helps you.

BMW X5 2007 key is stuck in the ignition and the car will not start. We already tried charging the batteries and still would not release the key.

OMG, I want to thank you all for your information. I was looking for any information I could find on how to get the key out of the ignition on my BMW 330 CI. My key would not come out of the ignition. I would have to put the car in park, turn off the key and then push the knob more into the Park position. I thought the coin blog would be to easy. I went outside, removed the ashtray and low and behold, there is a quarter in there. I was so excited. The key now comes out without and issues. Thanks again for your information.

Often times when I turn the wheel all the way weather left or right. and weather in forward or in reverse doesn't matter the truck kills. its a 2001 dodge dakota automatic.

on most power steering pumps there is a single wire idle up switch to compensate for load caused by pump switch is on pump check connection also try to find a clear parking lot drive in slow circle steer all the way see if engine dies while moving at slow speed will use less effort if engine doesnt die then check the p/s idle up switch

I have a BMW 330 ci 2001 the power steering fluid is low resulting in car being disabled. When I replace the fluid is therea reset process ?? Marjie H

There is no reset process, but the fluid may become aerated (foamy)when you start vehicle. The real issue is that the fluid leaked out, and that needs to be addressed.

2006 330i Need to add power steering fluid, but can't identify which is power steering resevoir.

This is wrong!!!! This will destroy your car. The power sterring fluid say ATF only, putting power sterring in it will destroy the steering.

Power steering is hard when it comes to making turns.. pump has already been flushed. pump still works

if it has a steering box its the solenoid on top where the steering column comes in, some times when engine replaced it gets broke.
you sure pump is ok.

Power steering problem when moving slow or rpm drop

no it is the power steering pump. the pump is worn so at low rpm or low speeds it is real tough to steer. but when the rpm is picked up the steering gets easier.

Also check belt tension but at high rpm speeds the belt would slip and squel real loud. so i would point the problem to the power steering pump.

hope this fixs ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
