You set a evaporative code by leaving the gas cap off..Put the cap back on ,as long as your fuel level is between a 1/4 to 3/4 the vehicle will eventually do another test and the light will go out

Have the same car and switch between mid grade and premium fuel every other tank of fuel has never done anything but at one point my check engine light came on....Turns out the gas caps on them tend to wear out then throws a false check gas cap code think about buying a new fuel cap should be an easy $10 fix....hope this helps

First thing to check is the gas cap. Loose gas cap will cause the service light to lit up. Usually the car will run for about 100 miles or so before the light goes away, but you can also, reset the ECU by checking this site. Try pulling the fuses marked "Eng cont/inj, there is a 15A under the hood, in the fusebox near the battery, and a 10A in the driver-side interior fusebox - pull both.

It means the computer has detected a malfunction in one or more of the numerous systems it monitors. There's no way to tell which code it has set without scanning it. Did you happen to get gas right before the light went on? The light will go on for something as simple as a loose gas cap. Check to make sure the gas cap is there and is tightened properly. If that is the problem the light should go off in a few drives.

You cannot reset the light, some people think that by disconnecting the battery you reset the ECM, as that may work on Fords or Chevy, it doesn't work on Infinitis. If the engine light came on because of a loose or missing gas cap, then once the cap is tightened past three clicks, the light will go off on its own. You are going to have to take it to either AutoZone, a dealership or to an independent shop and have the Consult II diagnostic computer retrieve and clear the stored codes. AutoZone does this for free. That's where I suggest you start. 

A loose gas cap will sometimes trigger the service light to come on.  Since this appears to have happened on multiple occasions I can assume that this is not the problem but may be associated with it.  The level of gas in the tank affects the amount of atmospheric pressure in the tank. There are multiple things that could set off the light, one being a loose or defective gas cap, and the other is a fuel vapor return valve.  I'm not sure of the exact type of fuel system you have so I cant give a more exact answer.  If you wanted to give something a shot before bringing it into the shop, you can simply replace the gas cap first, a very cheap try.
