Take the trunk key and turn it like you are opening the trunk, now looking at the latch, it will be "UP". take a small screwdriver and put in in the slot and pull the latch down, it should come DOWN. and now shousd just look like a big slot that the "striker" will go up into. now try to close the trunk. if the latch still has a problem, have it checked by a shop.

I have a 2004 chevy cavalier and the trunk latch won't click into place and close fully, therefore the trunk won't close fully.

yes that could be the problem. try this putt your key in to the lock and turn it to unlock it , check to see if latch is open ,while still holding the key in the unlock position close the trunk and relock it with the key while pushing down on the hood at the same time. replace the lock when you can .there is no quick fix for this unless u use a bungee cord for it .

My 2003 Saturn Ion remote trunk release won't

Check to make sure the button on the trunk latch is turned from manual unlock...they made that feature so only the key will work to open the trunk that way if someone breaks in the front of your car they can't hit the trunk release and get into the trunk...may be the same thing for your remote. Hope that helps.

I have a 2000 Buick Regal and can't open the truck. I've tried the remote control, the glove box button and the key and none of them work. Came home with a trunk of groceries and had to pull them...

It sounds like the latch is stuck, if you crawl into the trunk through the fold down, is there an emergency release lever? If it has one and you can get the trunk open, make sure you lubricate all the moving parts on the latch before closing it again. You might also want to open and close it a few times to get the lubricant worked into it. I would use a heavy oil but you can probably get away with WD-40.

2003 cavalier 2dr. truck latch wont release with button on dash or the key, have to pound on trunk and play around and finally it will open. can i get a lack that works with the key only....thanks

The latch needs to be greased or it is out of align. Was it ever shut with something in it? Like a jacket? Then it could be the latch bent a little bit. It kinda works like scissor action. While lid open. Work the latch open and closed see if it works freely. And look for freshly scraped off paint on it and latch on car. It will show you where it is rubbing when it didnt used to be. Just adjust it opposite way.

I have a 2002 chevy cavelier, i used the button on the dash to open the trunk, now the trunk will not latch when i close it.

Try pushing the button under the dash back into its normal 'unactivated' position, and see if the trunk will latch shut. It could be a sticky latch mechanism in the trunk, which some silicone lubricant or WD40 might help to free up. Check also that the latch has not actually returned to the 'locked' position prior to trying to close the trunk. That would definitely stop you from closing the trunk properly! Try unlocking the trunk latching mechanism again.
