Question about 1983 Chevrolet K1500

1970 Chevy 350 in C30 truck dies when warm

1970 chevy 350, new points, condensor, cap and button, runs great and powerful when cold or cool, but after 15 minutes, runs rough, then dies, and impossible to restart, until it has cooled down again. I am getting about 190 degrees F at the thermostat housing when this happens. Replaced coil as well, will replace wires, but its not just 1-2 cylinders running bad when warm...the motor dies, then will turn over, but not start.

Going to try fuel pump and wires, will post results shortly. I think I can use a spark test light on the coil to see if it dies when the temperature hits the right point as well, i may have a bad "new" coil.

You need to find oput what you loose when the truck shuts off, all you need is Air, Fuel , and spark to run one of the three are droppuig out when it stalls and will not run. Chech the carb for gas it sounds like you have a weak fuel pump.

Try spraying starting fluid in the carb when it wont run, if it runs the problem is fuel !

My 97 was doing this, I too put a lot of money before figuring out that it was a bad coil and coil wire. Works great now. Do you have the 4.3L

I have a 1998 Chevy K1500 with a 350 and it runs rough from time to time and has a mis fire on #6

Looks like you covered just about everything outside the engine.
Since it has 225k on the engine, its possible the valves are carboned up or burned to where one of the intake valves fail to close some times.
You might try a compression test or use a vac gauge when it is running rough. If the problem was not happening before you changed the plugs, you could have bought some defective ones.

1990 Chevy Van with a 350 small block that has a mind of it's own.

Try to get it running a bit to warm up the exhaust. Take a point and shoot thermometer and take the temp of the cat. If temps exceed 400 degrees I would start to suspect a plugged cat.

Not god to use starter fluid, gas in a bottle works. If it starts that way ,my guess would be the fuel pump.

1989 Chevy K2500 350 will not restart after warmed up? I have replaced Heads, reset timing 0 TDC new plugs, coil, cap, button, module and pick up coil. Engine starts cold runs great but will not restart...

tdc is usually set at 8 degrees BTDC for an automatic and 4 BTDC for a manual transmission. This may help. Does the engine run rough at start up being set at 0TDC?

This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.
