The squeeking is most likely coming from your belt's idler pully. They cost around 10 bucks and are attached with one bolt. Kinda hard to get to, so be patient.

No, you dont want to get it wet at all. if you dont really wnt to spend more money, then i would suggest picking up some belt dressing and coating ALL of your belts. just remember, too much of a good thing is bad.

the issue sounds like a warped pulley, which means paying a mechanic more $$$ if you cant repair that by yourself.

Ck the belt for tightness. "expensive" belts dont alwayts mean "good" belts. sometimes you may have to put belts of from the dealer, or use a goodyear or gates belt.

Air connditioning

  1. Ann, could you be a little more vague? It will be necessary to know some details before anyone can help you. Make, model, etc. does the fan blow air of any temp out the vents? Does the compressor turn? Check that the compressor drive belt is not broken. On a modern car there will be only one drive belt for the power steering, air conditioning, alternator and water pump. With the engine running if you do not see a belt turning I advise not driving the car until you can have it replaced as the engine could over heat and cause serious damage to the engine. If you are not familiar with underhood workings I have linked a youtube video that may help you find the belt. Start at 2:33 on the video. Good luck.

I turned on my ac in my car and my car made a loud squeaking noise, then my battery light can on my dashboard...need help!

It means that eighter the ac compressor belt needs to be replaced or the ac compressor beearing needs to be replaced,, your alternator and ac belt are on the same pully,, if eighter the belt or beering is bad,, when u switch it on,, it will squeek and put extra load on the alternator so it wont charge propperly... causing the light to come on.. replace them and you will be fine..

My 2003 Subaru Forester AC compressor squeaks at startup, then stops squeaking. Is my AC Compressor failing?

Not likely. The belt may be old and stretched. A small adjustment to the tensioner or replacing the belt should help.

The serpentine belt squeaks. I'll check the belt & the tensioner. Anything else I should look for?

The Corolla's has a hydralic belt tensioner. When you replace the serp belt you need to buy a factory Toyota belt. The reason why the after-market reproduction belts are slightly long or short. This
will either cause a squeaky belt problem or a over adjusted belt condition which could burn up one of your engines accessories (p/s pump, alt. etc.)

1992 Mazda MX3 is sweeking when I turn car on...might be some sort of belt but I'm not positive.

Sounds like the belt, you're right on track. Check the belt(s) and replace if neccesary. If belts are fine, check for tightness. Should be about a 1/4" flexibility when you push down on them. If all is ok, belt dressing should take care of the problem.
Now, if for some reason, one of the components that run off the belts may be going bad, specifically a/c compressor. If it's starting to lock up, it will make your belt squeal and finally snap.
