BLACK smoke is unburned fuel.

Most likely a stuck open fuel injector. Check to see if any cables are disconencted or loose.

You can check them while the engine is running, using an engine stethoscope (like doctors use) that has a rod instead of a disk at the end. You will find the faulty one quickly.

It could also be (not likely) the fuel pressure regulator. It is supposed to open a fuel relief valve when the fuel pressure gets too high. The valve allows excess fuel to be sent back to the gas tank. OK, return fuel line may be clogged or crimped (very rare).
Unless your vehicle hit "bottom" and damaged the return line under the chassis.

Most likely: Fuel injector gone wild.

Long term, use a "brand name" fuel injector cleaner (12oz AutoZone $8)

Black smoking on idle

Your engine would smoke if you are running at too high RPM or have had your RPM at a high level before. The engine is getting overheated. When you say it only smokes until about one mile it sounds like a problem with the engine. starter.

2002 escape 3.0 idle fluctuates and misfires when driving

No such thing as a tune-up

All you did was replace spark plugs which should be
done every 3 years

Oxygen Sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles which you
also did

You most likely have an intake gasket leak, smoke test
the entire Evap System & Engine

You also are have bad igniton coils

Rough low idle and black smoke

Bad carb or fuel injection issues- the system is fuel rich (black smoke) and also fuel rich system can make the idle low. Many things can cause this but thses are just a few.

Going on the information you have provided it sounds to me like the fuel pressure regulator. It is located unthe intake manifold and is a lenghty job to do and is exspensive to have done.If you have a good mechanical ability it can be done by yourself in about 4-5 hours.and cost about $100 bucks.

I bought my 1997 honda civic lxi last 2 weeks ago, while driving, its temperature getting higher, sometimes the idle is not normal (fluctuating), theres so much white smoke in the muffler when...

Possible head gasket put in wrong or possible. make sure radiator cooling fan is coming on. The smoke could be remaining from the water standing in the exhaust if it is fixed it will take a while for that to burn off. Check the timing on the timing belt. change your thermostat. Have your radiator checked for flow. If it is plugged replace it. Intake could be leaking to cause the fluctuating idle. The throttle body can cause the idle to search. Also the timing off can do that.If possible do a combustion leak test in the coolant

Hard starting and to much smoke when engine running idle and sometimes fluctuation

Smoke usually there's a problem.... Bluish gray smoke means you're burning oil (could be a number of things like piston rings, valve seals)... White smoke means could mean you're burning transmission fluid, or there's a crack in the gasket or engine block.... Black smoke could mean you need your air filter changed, bad fuel injectors, bad distributor cap, ignition coil... I would guess it's probably black smoke coming out of your exhaust from the sounds of your symptoms...
