When should I get a tune up on my 300 and when should I get the fuel injection system cleaned?

You can 100,000 miles out of a good set of sparkplugs on an EFI engine.I would put some Berryman B12 Chemtool injection cleaner in it once every couple of months depending on your driving habits.Change oil every 3,000 or 3500 miles for a clean engine

Having trouble cranking my truck up and once it gets to running and I shift it into gear it dies what do I need to do


if been long time do a tune up.tell me year model vechicle type.if you have carb engine automatic choke could be stuck close or open position.fuel injection systems you need clean fuel injectors,change spark plugs and wires and change fuel filter that for carb and fuel injection engine.if you have older vechicle the ignition timing need adjusting also idle speed had to be adjusted.

these indicate a misfire on cylinders 2 and 5 the code 300 is random misfire.does the car need a tune-up plug,wires, the fuel injection system need cleaning,also there could be a intake vacuum leak with the intake gasket leaking causing the misfire near these cylinders.

Po 300 code tune up performed. ( plugs, wires, air,and fuel filter) what could I have missed? Car has 159000 miles 01 Yukon xl


P0300 is multiple cylinder misfire. If your engine is a "vortec" then I would suspect the fuel injection system. The vortec engine uses a "spider leg" injection system and I have found that if a tune up doesn't clear this code, that the injector tips are dirty. In simple terms, the fuel goes into a "block" and is distributed to the cylinders by a series of plastic lines that "clip" into the heads. I have found that oil and crud has a tendancy to collect around these ports and sometimes works it's way in to the passage, clogging the tips. taking the lines out and spraying the tips with carb cleaner has worked every time for me.

there might be some issues regarding this..
a major misfire! (when was the last time you did a tune-up?)
clogged trottle body
have it done a good fuel injection cleaning service anf this should make a difference...

Misfire is more often than not an indication of the need for a good tune up. before you start replacing fuel injectors etc, do the tune up. Do not buy cheep parts. It is a Ford, use motor craft parts. Or at least autolite plugs. If it call for platinum plugs don't put in the cheap ones. You usually only have to do one tune up every 100000 miles. so make it a good one. Before you tune it up, do the fuel injection cleaning. Clean out the intake behind the black tube. You can look in there and see the black carbon build up. Take some fuel injection cleaner in a spray can and use a soft cloth and reach in and clean that area. IF you can't do induction cleaning, run the car and slowly spray the fuel-injection cleaner while it is running at about 2000 RPM's Then replace your plugs and wires. IF you still have the misfire, and the odds are you won't, you then need to check the coil pack. Ohm out the six packs. This is a waist spark ignition so if you ohm across each set front to back you should get the same reading across the board. I wish I could give you a picture. There are two rows of three studs. you want to ohm between each of the three rows, Hope this helps.

Tune up and clean the throttle plate


Ford is notorius for bad breathing.There EGR system is terrible, it always causes a lot of carbon build up in the throttle plates. The best thing to do, is to take of the throttle body assembly and digg out the carbon thats restricting the air flow. Also, it is a good rule or thumb to clean the throttle plate with carb & throttle cleaner with a tooth brush. Add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to a full tank of gas. While your doing all this you might as well change the EGR valve. If you follow the air intake pipe from the air filter box, it should lead you to the throttle body assembly. The EGR valve is located on the passenger side by the fire wall underneath the heater hoses and AC lines. Good luck, Ford engineers must have been drinking when they designed their vehicles, they don't make anything easy.
