PCV is an acronym for positive crankcase ventilation.
The PCV Valve is a very common replacement item on many engines today. It's called the PCV valve for short but it stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. When your engine spins it many times collects pressure in the crankcase area, and it has to escape to relieve pressure on the motors bearings and seals. The PCV valve and PCV system is typically located near the intake manifold, and many times comes right off of the valve cover. It is very simple to replace the PCV valve, and you can do so by simply unscrewing it, and screwing in the new valve. We recommend using a little bit of teflon tape or paste to make sure you do not get any oil leaks.
Example (see picture below): 2,4 ltr. Audi V6 engine (BDV, AMM)

Not difficult unless you own an A3 3.2, then you have to replace the entire valve cover and gasket. The cover has been cast with the housing for the valve integral with the cover. You will need to remove the A/C compressor, the alternator, the intake manifold and related components to take the valve cover off and access the hoses. Do not even try this at home unless you are well trained in engine repair...

Car takes a long time to start, like a few minutes. Runs fine once it finally starts. It gets closer the longer you crank. Changed pugs, fuel filter and some vacuum/pcv pieces, No difference.

2004 Audi A4 headlight replacement

you have to loosen the whole headlight assembly to open the covers behind the lights to actually get to the bulbs. 4 screws, 2 are on the top of the assembly(phillips screws) the other two are hex and attach the bottom of the assembly to the car. somewhat difficult to see but look behind the assembly and down into the compartment and loosen the screws(they don't fully come out) just enough to pull the assembly out. open the black cover behind he low bean and there is the bulb

the first [& easiest] solution is to change your PCV valve.if that dosen't make a difference,it could be valves need adjustment or a problem w/ a valve lifter.
