Question about 2002 Subaru Forester

1 Answer

I devloped a miss in the engine after warming up, not consistent, I took it to subaru dealer, he checked it and told me it needed a new coil, plug wires and plugs. so I said ok fix it. The charge was a little more than I had expected. but I paid and left , on the way home on the interstate it started doing the same thing just not quite as bad, what do I do next.

2006 subaru outback, missfire code - cylinders 1 and 3. Could it be coil or plugs and wires I'm told at service shop. Anybody come across this?

had miss fires with my 92 legacy gt.typical suby fault coil packs always go out in saying that check that you dont just have a foul or failed spark plug. easy fix if it is the coil i replaced mine with 2nd hand ones from the same model usualy find them at most subaru specialists wreckers etc depending on model.

Check the fuses. Usually the data link connector is powered of an accessory fuse or the cigar fuse. If the fuse is blown than there will be no communication with the computer. Once the fuses are checked and any blown ones are replaced bring it back to have it scanned.

I agree that it sounds like a coil.

1998 pontiac firebird coil pack, will coil make it miss on 1 cylinder, 3800 engine, misfiring, have changed plugs and wires

yes, it can happen. check for spark from the number one coil using spark plug wire and hold it near a grounded point. it should be a consistent spark with engine running. compare to different coil wire for verification. those coil packs are partially replace able because each coil fires two plugs. replace the no.1 portion with a new one from parts store. 28.00

Hard to start...took it to a mechanic and he told me I need 6 ignition coils...Is that normal?..once it starts, everything is smooth...Also, my dash lights are out...i tapped on it and they came on and...

Long time ago one coil and 4, 6, or 8 plug wires changed to a mini coil for each plug, your car most likely is one of those. However if i runs fine after it gets warm I would want a second opinion before I bought new coils as I bet they are not cheap. Sometimes a dealer, who sees lots of these, can be a good place for diagnosis. The have the correct tools, all the tech bulletins and again they see lots of these motors.

im a tech in the bronx and i dealt with the same code for the misfire. burt i realized that there wasnt any power to the coil of #2 cylinder. I replaced the sensor mounted on top of the air filter box, which solved this problem.

Missing in cylinders 1 and 4

first change the plugs and wires for these two cylinders then if that doesn't help do a compression test or do the compression test first
