The first comment is correct..You can use gauge to check your ratio..Which should be roughly 50/50..The other comment is wrong..You can definetly have to much antifreeze..Which can make your vehicle overheat..They say that water out of a faucet has metalic particles that can cause electrolysis..The best thing is buy the 50/50 antifreeze..Its suppose to have mineral water and antifreeze..But if you already have a high concentration of antifreeze..(which the gauge will tell ya )..Then add water..If you service your coolant like you suppose to,,Then you dont have to worry about corrision...But alot of people just add straight coolant,,and eventually you will have problems..When you use a gauge try to get around -30 f...If its higher than that add water..If its lower than that add antifreeze..

Get a coolant gauge at Wal-Mart or some where & check it. Some coolant is premixed & you do not need to add water.

04 Ford freestar I got on the eway once I hit 55mph my c to h gauge went to the car didn't smoke or overheat. I got off the eway it went back down. the engine symbol cut on it will not cut oFf. why?

Check the coolant level! You may be so low that it isn't able to circulate between the engine block and radiator. Add water / coolant mixture to the radiator when the engine is *cold* and then start the engine. Continue topping off the radiator as the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Finally, add water / coolant to the warm / hot level indicator on the coolant reservoir.

No heat after replacing a water pump on a 2008 Ford Focus

You may still have air in the coolant system. Bleed the coolant and watch to make sure it dont overheat. Also turn the heater to full and set it on high while adding and bleeding the coolant system.

What kind of coolant does it take

Probabaly just regular antifreeze(green). Look at the color in the coolant reservoir. If its red, dexcool will work. if you want to make it easy on yourself, buy whats called Global coolant, its almost clear and mixes with all others. make sure you buy it premixed so you dont have to add water.

Can i put water into my coolant resevoir? it is completely out of fluid and I don't have any coolant.

Yes, water works fine. You just will need to add some antifreeze to the system before freezing weather arrives. If you have antifreeze in the vehicle and are just diluting it some, then drain it about halfway and refill with antifreeze when winter arrives. If it is empty and you are just putting water only, then if your engine is an alluminum block and head, it will be fine for now with just water. If you have a cast Iron block, then you will need to add antifreeze to lubricate and prevent your block from rusting on the inside!
