Question about 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
The no Traction light comes on and stays on. Along with this the digital display says power steering.
When these two items are displayed the transmission jumps hard into gear and feels like it is slipping.
The power will go in and out at this time also.
Now this problem does not occur and stay on the whole time I’m driving.
Sometimes it does not happen at all when I’m driving all day but if I turn it off and leave it sitting and turn it back on it will occur again. Sometimes I have fixed it by clearing my codes or turning off the car and turning it back on.
The check engine light is on also and stays on.
Sounds like the sensors need replaced. The power steering wouldn't effect any of your problems but the traction light would! The Traction senor is a safty function which effects both braking and acceleration. Which is only suppost to work when your tires slip wheather in snow, gravel, or whatever. If your not slipping and its functioning then it means your senor is bad and needs replace!

What are the code numbers?
Read them before clearing them.
They will most likely show the cause of the problems.

this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS, TPMS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You
must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool
and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for

... If you turn the system off by moving the shift lever
to FIRST (1) or SECOND (2), the warning light will
come on and stay on. To turn the system back on,
move the shift lever back to a position other than
FIRST (1) or SECOND (2). The warning light
should go off. (See "Enhanced Traction System"
in the Index for more information.)
The warning light will come on when you set your
parking brake with the engine running, and it will
stay on if your parking brake doesn't release fully.
If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other
than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning
light stays on after your parking brake is fully
released, it means there's a problem with the system.
If the traction control system is affected by an
engine-related problem, the system will turn off
and the warning light will come on.
If the Enhanced Traction System warning light comes
on and stays on for an extended period of time when the
transaxle shift lever is in any position other than FIRST
(1) or SECOND (2) your vehicle needs service.
