My 206 sometimes starts OK, but every now and then it will not. Battery seems dead. No engine turrnover, clicking noise, indicator dials(petrol etc) pull to zero for a slight moment. Have to jump start or push.

1st thing is to get your battery checked for voltage and ampage drop as most batteries last for 3 years but depends on how much you alternator has been charging and battery could be down to 10 volts in 12 hours.
But you can take the Black battery lead off every night for 1 week and if it starts every day no probs then you have a short in wiring.....

Sometimes just dirty or loose battery connections cause this...current is OK to lights radio etc...but not enough to engage the starter...Any clicking sound indicates low battery...no turning at all may be the starter...Hope the battery posts (clean & retighten) is the problem.

clean the negative terminal the do it up tight

need to load test battery, this vehicle will not start or power up engine ECU if battery voltage is dropping to 10 volts or below while cranking. so if starter is clicking some times due to low voltage engine will not fire up(start) but cranks over seemingly fine. also when not starting does check engine light flash at all?
check all earths after checking battery with load tester if battery is ok then there was problems with immobiliser modules causing this fault and there is a revised module for this as well as checking wiring for key reader to immobiliser, also are there any aftermarket electronics fitted to vehicle? which could be causing problem due to location and wiring into vehicle.

Battery seemed to be dead so I had the charging system tested and seemed ok replaced the battery. I tried to start it this morning and it's dead again.

if the charging system is good and you replaced the battery and it still goes dead then you have something on the car that is causing a draw on the system that needs to checked out.it could be something that is not turn off even a problem with one of the on board computers not powering down.this is providing the starter is not the problem.sometimes a bad starter will do nothing no noise or clicking sound because it has a bad spot in it or the starter solenoid system has a problem.

Peugeot 206 2001 petrol intermitant fault with starter motor

If the starter motor is sticking, it can draw a large current. If there is power down to the starter motor while its not starting then the starter is faulty. You can test this with a multimeter or just a test bulb connected to the smaller of the two wires on the starter, while cranking.Check you have a good earth from the battery to the engine. If the bulb lights up but no engine cranking then its a faulty starter.
