Question about 2005 Peugeot 405

Whenever i park the car water leaks out of the tiny hole under the rad cap ! Why ?

In the cooling system of the car,there is a fair amount of water.When it gets hot it expands.It will half fill the overflow bottle.If you top up the water too far,it will flow out the hose,or hole as you said.This is normal.If it flows out a lot,and you have to refill the bottle very often,this is something that needs looking at.But a small amount is normal only once or twice after topping up.Just make sure is not the aircon,drain.I hope this helps

cold engine. now.
1: get engine hot, parked in drive way , RAD 100% full of coolant
as the system naturally pressurizes to about 14 PSI
all cars leak, if breached, (the pressure does that)
the point it leaks, is the point of BAD.

if that liquid is pure clean water that is normal that being the AC condensate drain.
but i guess yours is green AF? or Orange? and dont taste it , it is toxic. unlike condensate.

the loop (coolant ) can leak at many places. inside or outside car.
hoses, gaskets ,seals, pump, RAD. , the CAP.
the engine, it self.
lots of places.
all you have to do is stand there (or bend) and see where it leaks.
the post a photo here, and BAM, we can tell you WHAT'S UP.

other places are; (Googler's land here as does searches)
passenger toes wet , i mean rug ?
engine oil looks like milk chococolate.

I have a 2005 Suzuki Aerio that keeps on overheating change the thermostat change the radiator but a hose is building pressure causing it to burst

bad hoses.!! heck they are 10 years old, none last for ever.
a hose that fails is a bad hose. but some old hoses can be
pushed of the edge, sure, but hose is bad never the less.
is the rad cap new,? (do that first) use correct cap, pressure rating
never over 14psi.
my guess is you have venting? (name all overheating facts, SIGNS)
arethere signs oif steam and oil and carbon in the rad side tank or at filler hole (cold checked only)
if yes, that can be bad head gasket or far worse.
get the rad pressure checked (hand pump) leak down test.
then check the rad for exhaust gasses. blue/green tester.

does it only overheat parked.? when?
if it stays cool moving that means the fan is dead, parked.
the natural pressure is 12-14psi regulated by the cap.

you need to do tests first. not change parts.
are you going to replace all parts only to find a warped head.?
i cant hear engine run, nor do rational analysis.
nor see it mess up, or when and how bad. not me. im blind.
asking net bunny's (blind) how to fix this is over the top.
why not get the car serviced by a pro that has all those tools.
(at least 3 tools)
compression tester.
rad leak down finds leaks and if block head cracked or head gasket blown.
green/blue rad cap tester. (exhaust leaks)
a pryo IR heat gun to measure for hot points. (checks cores easy)

why not consider all signs. and let the evidence prove the puddn
head gasket. signs (huge list)
water and steam gushing from rad cap or overfill tank
carbon in the rad neck hole, cap off cold.
oil in same place
water in engine pan, (milky)
steam out the tail pipe after engine fully warm.
water leaking down side of block at head/block juncture.
cylinder compression low on 1 or more.
cylinder leak down fails on 1 or more
the green/blue die test fails.
the rad leak down gauge test fails.
engine pings
lost engine power.
funny sounds.
i can list more, but that is enough.

How can i ell if my water pump is failing

over heating has many causes.
what are the signs, just the gauge going high. ?
steam shooting out rad cap. (is the cap even good>?)
side recovery tank, blasting? with hot water and steam.
oil in the RAD neck , (cold engine) RAD=Radiator assembly.
antifreeze "AF" in the engine oil>? (dip stick looks like milkchocolate?
leaks to the ground, from what?? (find it)
does the RAD fan come on , overheated, It must. does it?
is the RAD core clean? outside, ? not packed with bugs and leaves.
the #1 failure part is the thermostat. put in a new one. and cap.
they are cheap . and easy to change out both cap and STAT.
are you running 50% AF? , using the Prestone $2 tool for the test?
AF raises the boiling point of water, to 260?F
the cap holding pressure and the AF both raise it that high.
if car does not over heat, moviing, only, nows that time to say so..
get in car, cold , drive did it overheat with no stop signals?
(moving gives free air flow to the RAD, proving it works)
Use the radiator leak down tool. to see of loop is beached.
Use the Exhaust gas detector tool at RAD cap to see if the head gasket is blown.

how do you know the pump is. bad.
1: it leaks
2: the impeller is dust.
3:ITS pulley wobbles like mad.

my answer, the pump is after all other test pass.
including a RAD core, thermogram
i can check each rad tube 1 by 1, in fact i threat my RAD
as 10 or more tiny radiators (it is)
see 50 mile test here, RAD cores
They get 34f degree tube drops.. each tube must drop or its clogged.
all for a $15 tool and no burned fingers.
measure each tube about 2inch from top of tank and bottom
and both tanks. (this test is very revealing)

Water leak coolant

id put it on the shelf. but i do know desperation, been there done that.

in the rad neck hole.

the can tells you what to do, did you not read the can side????????

1;dead cold engine.

2: open rad cap

3: put in bars leaks. (nasty stuff to put in any engine. id not)

put back cap and pray.

it can work for short time. if stranded,, but it will fail again.

it can not replace what is bad. never. ever.

its a bandaid.

ps, some engines have no rad, cap, but have a tank with a RAD

cap on this TANK, (4.0L jeeps had this)

im a jeep guy and japanese jeep.(suz)

so where is that leak

on the ground

or in the engine oil pan, motor oil look like milk chocolate?

remove dip stick see end? see oil there? and not clear amber?

Coolant leak

Hose ? The drain valve on the lower radiator ? The water pump has what's called a weep hole built into it. When the water pump fails water weeps out of that little hole to let you know it's bad. I think the ion probably has the water pump onth the front of the engine under the plastic cover ? ( not sure on that ) if it is the water will leak from behind that plastic cover making it look like its coming from the area where the oil pan and that plastic meet. It could get blown around by the cooling fan making it look a lot worse that it is. Check the lower hose and all the other coolant hoses for cracks or leaks as well as the entire radiator area ( sides, top, bottom ) check your rad cap when its cool and be sure the rubber seal on the inside of the cap is good and not cracked or dry rotted. If it is then when the water gets hot and pressure builds in the rad it will leak. When its cold it may not.

Leaking rad fluid

Could be the water pump. There is usually a weep hole on under side of the pump. When they go bad sometimes they leak out the weep hole.

Why does the motor overheat and looses water

You have a leak somewhere is the obvious answer, the hard part is finding the leak, it could be a hole in the rad or a split in a hose somewhere, I suggest you drive the car for 15 mins, park it up, pop the hood/bonnet and see if you can see a leak, then look under the engine ( on the floor ) and see if there are any leaks on the floor. you can get solutions you put in the radiator to fix radiator leaks, but a hose, could burst and cause a massive engine failure, hoses need to be replaced.

1998 Isuzu rodeo running hot. filled radiator & reservoir with water & coolant. There is a oily substance dripping from small hose at the bottom of radiator, dont see any water leaking. Just had...

Replace small hose and clamp, that hose come's from your transmission, goes through another tank in the radiator, to keep the transmission fluid cool, hope this was very helpful.

First find exactly where the water comes from.
broken hose or hole in radiator - if no leaks here then :-
broken / loose drive belt to water pump - sign is no heat to internal heater
thermostat stuck - heats up and overheats quickly. water from exits rad cap area
also check radiator cap - should be sprung to contain water under pressure, usually these are very reliable

check oil filler cap [inside of] - should be oily and grey/black If it has a covering of what looks like soft brown aireated jelly then possibly hear gasket or other internal engine leak between water & oil ways. The excess pressure from engine will force water out of rad cap area . A compression test with variable readings for between cylinders will confirm this. Hope its not this. It's expensive
