Hi mate,
this problem is really the common part of a vehicle.its actually not the pulley system, but the timing belt of the engine.

Holden VT 2000 5.7 has a rattle in top of motor and squeaks loud I think it is a lifter but should it squeak like that

SQUEAKS: Oh heavens NO...!!

(SORRY... Sorry...(My bad))... err... err.

WRONG...!!!

SQUEAKs ... So NOT start it again...

More important: Do NOT OVERFILL the OIL.

SQUEAKs - - "Have it towed IMMEDIATELY"... No!!

SQUEAKs -- Not even on my home planet.

If you have any oil at all... then your oil pump is kaput... you are toying with a major disaster... if this isn't a total spoof...!!

Indeed. Squeaks! -- Seriously? Squeaks?

Altima 2005 squeaking in the rear

Chattering is caused by components tooclose to each other. This happens when bushings wear out. Get under there (not whenthe car has been running) and shake the exhaust system and any suspension component to see if you can make it chatter. Then look for why the part is able to move so much.

2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Loud squeaking coming from serpentine belt area after I start the engine cold. Changed the belt recently but still noice persist. Loud squeaking goes away after driving for 3-5...

It is probably the tensioner pulley that's gone bad. It can be replaced separately, if you can purchase the pulley separately. As to how to go about changing it in such a small space, it's definitely possible, with the right type of tools. That's why mechanics have so many different shapes and lengths of the same size tools.

05 XL-7 I changed my old belts (with no squeaking) now one of the new belts squeaks loud, mostly in the morning when neighbors can hear and give dirty looks, like "get a new belt you incompetent grease...

Take a bar of soap at touch it on the side of belt when it is running. Becareful!!! or spray some WD40 on it. Should stop it. If not it must be something wrong with whatever it is running. If that is a serpentine belt spray it. Soap is good on v-belts.

Have a 2005 Hyundai Sonata and for the last year it has a high pitch squeak almost always when the engine is running. I had it into the shop three or four times and they tried to get the squeak to stop....

Occasionally this will happen. Here are a few tricks to hush the noisy belt. Try using another belt from another manufacturer. Its true you do get what you pay for. A better belt may be the ticket. Another trick is to lightly score the idler pulley with a file all the way around in a cross pattern then lightly sand the pulley to rough up the surface. There is also a spray you can buy called belt dressing that will work. Hope this gives you a reprieve from your earplugs. Good luck Dena.
