Question about 2007 Dodge Durango Night Runner New Cars

1 Answer

I have the exact same truck with the exact same problem.

I was thinking on re-coating the wheels, it's just that I have no idea what the paint or coat name is, any ideas? Does anyone know by chance the price to re-coat the wheels?

several mfg of coatings nowdays offer , spray applied coatings that work on plastic and tin shutters well, ask at your local paint store for them , also make sure you remove the silicone coatings you have applied previously to allow coatings to stick properly

I have painted and the paint will not dry, it feels dry but if i lay anything on it magazines, etc. it sticks.

You have not mentioned what kind of paint you have used, however, here are a few ideas.
We might accidentally hit on the one.
Some paints, such as latex or enamel, can do this if the first coat of paint is not completely "cured" before you add the second coat.
To be completely "cured", paint has to dry and harden for a set amount of time.
You also did not mention your location, but temperature & humidity can affect the drying time as well.
If the weather or the room is cold and/or damp, that can keep the paint from drying.
The colder and the damper, some paint will not "cure" at all!
If you used an automotive paint, properly mixed paint sometimes has "dryers" added to the paint to help it dry, but the same applies about the temperature and the humidity.
Automotive paint that is meant to be sprayed on cannot be brushed on, for the same reasons, it may not dry.
God bless your efforts.

Which is the correct Way to Repaint Jeep Wheels?

The best is to remove the tire from the rim, clean the rim to remove dust, dirt. oil etc. Remove any rust with a course sandpaper, sand the rim starting with a medium paper to a fine texture. Prep the surface to be painted and remove the valve stem (you will need a tool to install a new one). Prior to painting, wipe the surface with a paint thiner, prime the rim with a quality automotive grade primer. Paint the rims with your color choice in even strokes moving completly across the rim each pass, slightly overlap each stroke. Allow the paint to completly dry. To help protect the rim longer apply one or two coats of a quality clear coat to the painted surface.

Best way to fill in a deep scratch on car door caused by what I assume was a key...?

At Canadian tire they sell paint that comes in a pen type canister. has a ball point end and a brush. use the ball point end and just trace the scrtch with the paint pen. (exact match paint) this will hide the scratch well, but for best results. do a few coats. letting it dry between each time. which doesn't take long. and it will built the paint up flush to the original paint. when its dry. wash and wax over the surface.

Should i paint my second hand fuel tank that i bought

If it's a steel tank it would be a wise idea to clean it off and put a coat of rust paint and/or a coat of undercoating on it, especially on the top before you install it. Hope this helps.

Looking for touch up paint or solution for rust around wheel well

You need to remove all of the rust with a grinder then a wire wheel. Treat the rust with rust with a rust coating this will turn it black. Visit your local FinishMaster store and get the right code of paint, these guys are great and will steer u in the right direction

My daughter want to change her Scion alloy mag

That's definitely possible.

She'll need to thoroughly wash the wheel.
Then she'll need to sand the wheel down using 120 to 320 grit sandpaper in order to remove the gloss from the current finish and prepare it for primer. If your wheels are chrome, you need to get below the glossy surface to the dull finish below. Use 600 grit sandpaper to smooth out the the rim.
Then use a rag to remove the remaining dust.

If the tire is still on the wheel, tape and cover up the tire.

Lay the rim down on a flat surface in a well ventilated area and spray 2 to 3 coats of primer

Once it dries, gently sand it again with 600 grit sandpaper to to smooth it out again. use a rag to remove the excess dust.

Then spray 2 to 3 coats of the paint that she wants. and let dry.
Sand again to remove any runs in the paint.

Then spray 2 to 3 coats of clear coat. sand with 1000 to 1500 to remove any burrs. Then use a polishing agent to bring the shine back

2004 blue endeavor paint problem

This is a common problem with base coat clear coat paint, you may want to take it to the dealer and see if they will do something about it. GM and ford both had a problem with the clear coat fading and actually peeling away. If enough people complain they may do something about it. It has to basically be sanded down and repainted and clear coated again. The only sure way to keep this from happening is using a car cover when it’s in the sun. And blue is one of the worst I have seen for failure. But again it’s worth a shot to go to the dealer and see if there is a recall on the paint. The squeaky wheel gets greased

Ford will not assist on a 1998 vehicle because of the age.
You can primer and spot paint but it would probably do better if you sanded it down first.
