Looking at a 1989 blazer 4.3 guy says it needs a shift module in trans because it won't shift to 3 or 4

I would look at this as if it needs a new or rebuilt transmission. Yes, It could be the shift solenoid but considering the age of the vehicle, missing two gears and trying to sell it making it sound like a quick fix throws up too many red flags. Take 2500 off the cost of the vehicle and you have a reasonable purchase.

2005 chevy impala.. transmission slipping or something. this car has about 193,000 miles on it.. im wondering why its slipping (transmission) and if its even worth fixing...???

HI,
First, verify the transmission fluid level is correct - look in the Owner's Manual for info. 2nd get a transmission fluid replacement - do NOT do a 'chemical flush' it could make it even worse....just have them drain out ALL the old fluid and put in new fluid. Shouldn't cost more than $100. If you have any Check Engine Lights or other unusual lights on, get those checked out, too.

Per KBB.com car is worth about $2500 if you sell it yourself; dealer might give your $1500 but only $500 w/a bad transmission. A rebuilt transmission would likely cost $2000....do NOT fix it. 193K miles is a lot on any car especially an Impala. Time a for another car.

Chevy 2500 4x4 how do you replace alternator

Try the autozone.com website and register the vehicle. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual for the truck. The steps and procedures for replacing the alternator can be found there. ( I checked) Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

2003 Chevy needs transfer case replaced for the 2nd time

I just had my transfer case rebuilt on my 2002 2500 silverado duramax. They told me that the spring that holds the pump inplace in the transfer case wore a hold through the case. He said this was common on these transfer cases. Chevy has not acknowledge the problem. He designed a steel plate, with flanges that holds the pump in place and will not wear a hole in the case again. And as far as the post to engage it once a month, the chain turns even when in 2WHL drive.

I have a 1997 pontiac transport the transmission is slipping really bad.I had filter changed new fluid put in which dint help.Do i need a new transmission?

More than likely you have burnt clutches and clutch bands in your transmission, to replace you will need to take transmission out and have it rebuilt. The average price to rebuilt is $1000-2500. If you decide to have this done make sure that you get a good warranty at-least 6 months on parts and labor or at-least 12,000 miles. However this one thing to remember if the cost of repairs exceed the retail selling value of your vehicle its time for another vehicle. If you need more help contact me. Good Luck

Does the timing chain need to be replaced on a 1995 Chevy Astro?

Hello g_venegas,typically the timing chain should be replaced between 60 - 80,000 miles, of course the condition and how the vehicle was treated makes a big difference, so with 215,000 miles every day is a blessing regardless of how great shape the rest of it is, the big issue here is that if if fails during operation the repair cost will be considerably more than the timing chain, this of course is a decision you have to make. hope this helps you :) good luck
