Revised: I have a 1990 Ford F150 Its an automatic

Have a 1990 Ford F150 Its an automatic transmission, when I put it in drive or reverse the RPM's jump up and down between one thousand and as high as three thousand RPM. I checked throttle cable and spring and all that and it seemed to be fully opening and closing completely. The reving up and down of the engine first occured suddenly when I was driving home and I've tried several times since then RPM keeps jumping up and down. Any ideas?

1990 ford f150 in four wheel drive high is driving sluggish and will not go in reverse

The lack of reverse indicates on this transmission that it has failed internally and the transmission will need to be removed and rebuilt.

What you have is an E4OD transmission and will work with all Ford small block engines (300, 302, 351) in F150,F250, F350 and full size Broncos from 1983-1993.

1990 Ford F150 Rpm revs up two or three thousand RPM when in gear

Its sounds like your trans clutch plates are wearing out try thicker oil or it may be time for a serious replacement

If you check and drain your oil that's where you'll find your answers its supposed to be bright red not brown or smell like burnt so its a start to begin checking

1990 Ford Probe 2.2 automatic stalls in forward, reverse OK

Sounds like a bad IAC (idle air control valve/sensor) that controls your idle when going from throttle to idle. If bad your idle will act crazy and can cause stalls easily. Pretty sure that's it.

Help on the sequence of the automatic transmision ford f150 90 v8

if youve got transmission fluid in it and it wont do anything it is a bad transmission, if it isnt shifting in a correct order then your then your modulator valve is unhooked, bad, or isnt on it and you have to buy one for about twenty dollars or so i think. I cant remember if it is on the drivers side or passengers side. It looks like a spark advance. I hope that helps you out.
