It should be right on top of the compressor itself

How do I bypass the ac compressor with a new serpentine belt? the ac isn't necessary so we are removing the compressor and are wondering what belt to put on after, so it's not really bypassing, just s

Can't you just unplug the ac unit and keep the same belt? that would save you from having to change the original belt. which will make it a lot easier then trying to re-invent the wheel.

I drove and parked my Mark VIII last evening. This morning went to start, while engine turn over is good it will not fire.

crank sensor, next to the air conditioning compressor-try unplugging it and plugging it back in again, if not it is a common failure on these cars. to replace it you need to remove the serpentine belt, loosen the long bolts (there are 4) that hold the ac compressor to the block, and remove the plug to the crank sensor-then remove the 2 bolts that hold the sensor into the block. They cost around $50., it is not a difficult job if you have a jack and decent tools.

Can you get a belt To bypass the ac Ours went out and we dont have the money to get a new one so we was wondering if we can bypass it

Just unplug the compressor clutch so the compressor can't run; and then the pulley is just an idler.

Replaced r12 still blows hot air only

is your pressure sensor on the condensor working, it controls the engaging and disengaging of the compressor, if your compressor doesnt enguage it could be a bad compressor, and with my old c4 vette which was a 1992 the test for it was to run the ac on max, let the compressor try to cycle on its on, if it doesnt unplug the pressure switch on the condensor, but (WARNING: YOU MUST DO THIS EXACTLY AS STATED) plug it back in with in 5 seconds. as the pressure switch is what tells the compressor to engage, (NOT PLUGGING IT IN WITHIN 5 SECONDS COULD CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO BE OVER CHARGED AND EXPLODE.) . if your ac clutch does engage and your starts running the compressor with in that 5 seconds, your compressor is good. but this will also narrow it down to an either A: and over charged system or B: a bad sensor on the condensor. or C: if your compressor runs constantly, and undercharged system. Make sure to check for leaks, use some water around the two a/c system servicing ports, check the high and the low side as over time the O-rings deteriorate, and even though they have the plastic cap on them they can leak. remove the plastic caps, and put some soapy water around them and see if you get in bubbling with the system on. On my 92 the a/c use to leak down ever 30 days, i thought it was the compressor leaking during operation. i soap water tested all the connections and it was the service connections leaking. Went to autozone, replace the caps, reserviced, and went 3 years (Before selling the car) without having to service it again.

Locate wires coming from compressor clutch and trace to nearest plug that you can unplug. Turn on A/C to max cooling. If clutch not engaged (center of compressor drive pulley not spinning with pulley), unplug compressor clutch wires and use multimeter to check voltage going to compressor clutch. If voltage is around 12 volts or more, then clutch should be engaged when plugged in. Plug clutch wires back in (with motor still running and ac set to max). If clutch still not engaged, then clutch definitely bad because 12V signal should engage it.

The ac cont fuse keeps blowing on 97 lumina. If I put another fuse in it will blow as soon as the compressor turns on. If I unplug the power to the clutch and plug the power back in it will run for...

If you can unplug the compressor and put the switch in run forever and it doesnt blow then your compressor has a short in it and the car wash had nothing to do with this unless you can find water in the fuse block or relay block

Volkswagen passat 96 AC relay location

You should never connect a 12volt to the compressor solenoid.unless you unplug it first, because on some cars the ac solenoid is driven by an electronic circuit. Semiconductors are very sensitive to excessive current. I once had to repair the computer on a mercedes because the other mechanic did that. Luckily I know how to repair electronic circuits, or they would have bought a 500 dollars computer the little chip that blew only costed a dollar fifty cents at radio shack,.LOL. Anyways back to your problem, Have you checked if there is a leak, and all the refrigerant might have leaked out? This would prevent the compressor from coming on. Along the ac line there is a switch, sometimes by the reciever drier, when the system looses refrigerant the pressure inside drops and that pressure switch disable the compressor. , and the compressor wont come on. This is to protect the compressor, because it will be damaged if you run it without refrigerant. Ac clutch solenoid is usually is not driven by relay, because an ac solenoid don't really take much current to to kick in, unless of course it is shorted. It would either be directly from the inside switch usually in series with the fan control or driven by a small transistor in a circuit, and the electronic circuit is driven by the ac controls inside. I think the problem with your ac is that it has no refrigerant thats why the compressor wont come on.

91 camry A/con not working

Unfortunately does sound like the ac compressor but for peace of mind just disconnect the wiring from the compressor and try renewing fuse again and see if ok this will confirm its the compressor if still blows then is not compressor and will require further checks for a short in the wiring.

!991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?

Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.
