Ref. 2002 Camry V6... DTC = P0420 and P0430.
1) The car has two O2 sensors and two AF sensors....I replaced two O2 sensors to no avail... Is there another O2 sensor located downstream from the 3rd catalytic converter that's located underneath the car?
2) There are 3 catalytic converters... How do you test them?
3) Could the MAF or coil be causing this problem?
The AF sensors are uupstream and the O2 down stream. The car' s computer tests them and it is saying your cats are bad. If you have a scan tool you could look at the data and see what the sensors are seeing. The Af sensors are the ones that control the fuel ratio in the car while the O2's just watch. AF's would be the one to change but there is no garuatee that the codes won't come back.
2002 converter are part of manifold both sides but ther is also another converter behind the manifold rear converter there saying
420430 you replace manifolds and 02 sensors recheck to sweet if the third converter is needed the way I test them is to pull o2 sensor out and start car and see how much air gets through if there. Allot of air
The converter is clogged thank you please reply
