Question about Hyundai Motor 1999 Elantra

2 Answers

I have a 1999 Hyundai Elantra which runs great. Today I came into my driveway and whe I got out noticed a trail of wet spots from where I had turned off the A/C and entered the drive. I looked under car found a lot of coolant on ground at front, opened hood and there was water on the fan. What should I check when the engine cools down?

Was the engine running hot, was the a/c cooling ok? you either have a leak or it was overheating and pushed water out from the radiator cap. ck if the radiator fan comes on when you turn the a/c on, it should...if its not, you may have found the problem......ck the coolant level in the radiator and the reservoir when its cold. fill it up and you may need to let the engine run a while till its warm and then shut it off and look closely for a leak. water pump is a common item is it looks to be leaking aroung the timing belt cover area, plan on doing the timing belt if the water pump is leaking

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_fuel_filter_located_on_a_1999_elantra

Fuel filter looks like the easiest thing to address, if that doesnt work, you may want to get the code from the computer (check engine light means the system has generated a code). That would probably indicate exactly which component is at fault. You can get the codes at an auto parts store, they should be able to hook up a scanner for you.

Hyundai Elantra 1999 timing issue

It's a '99 Elantra, have you ever replaced the timing belt? It is a belt not a chaing, so it is very much should have the belt changed. After 13 years if you haven't done the belt yet now appears to be the time to change. I have an '05 and we changed it over a year now.

Good luck!!

Steering wheel vibration whe I rotate it??????

The vibration and rubbing may be separate issues. There could be many causes for vibration, ranging from low fluid, sticky rack valves, etc., to the tires simply grapping and releasing on the pavement. If it only does it under heavy use, such as when standing still and turning alot, then I suggest not doing that. It is hard on a car to turn the steering wheel when the car is not moving.

I have a 2002 hyundai elantra. weird noise igniton

No this is normal. This whine you hear is the fuel pump turning to pump fuel. Try not to run it under a 1/4 of tank to much though because if you do and you run out of fuelit can burn the fuel pump out. Chris J.C. Towing

How to replace serpentine belts 99' Hyundai Elantra.

you might need to get a prybar or something such long, and try to pry it off the belt, it should go easy right away. It is a spring-inside assembly, and won't brake. There also could be a 3/4 hole in it, look from a side. It's for middle size ratched, it can be used to loosen the tensioner from serp. belt.

2003 hyundai elantra gt overheat

If the upper radiator hose is cool, but the engine is overheated than this could be a sign that the thermostat is stuck. By the way, the thermostat is at the end of the upper hose in the metal housing. There are two bolts holding it to the engine.
