It starts runs but push the gas it dies

The car has sat for a long time the lady i got it from said the fule pump was out so i stated with the simple things relays that fixed that then the water pump was leaking real bad so i put a new one on it ran fine for a day then started to cut out like there was no gas in the tank, so naturally i check everything gas, hoses, things like taht then it dies on the hwy like i stated befor it starts runs til i push the gas then it dies i wanna say a sensor problem but i dont wanna tear the car apart if that aint the problem

Well...the lady might just be right because when you step on the gas that's when 35 to 45 lbs of fuel pressure is essential. Have someone with a fuel pressure gauge check that first. Replace the fuel filter just for nthe fun of it.

Most likely the fuel pump. Or your injectors need replaced.

Could be any number of things. Bad fuel pump, bad fuse, clogged gas line, leaking gas line, faulty electronics to the fuel pump, bad relay. There are a few ideas to start with.

My 2001 chevy silverado is having trouble starting i changed the fule filter and i can hear my fule pump runing but it takes right at 3 cranks for it to start.. It would try to start but just die on me......


Sounds like it. On new automobiles the fuel pump is in the gas tank, cools the pump, but you can disconnect the pump and put on an outside pump instead of pulling the gas tank and replacing gas pump and tank. Leave old pump in gas tank.

Stalled out?..no start,fule pump running constantly when key is in start poss.


ck fuel rail, for fuel pressure. if no pressure replace pump and sock.
