Ignition timing on 1990 Acura Legend.What is the proper procedurw for checking and adjusting the timing?

Properly connect a timing light aim it at the marks on the flywheel or crank pulley disable timing advance and turn the distributer until the timing mark lines up with the zero mark

Have you checked for power at the coil? With key on, you should have power at the B+ connector to the coil. If power there, it may be a bad pick-up coil, but that's just a guess. I think it is inside the distributor.
If no power to the coil, start checking the ignition switch for power in and power out (when key is in run position).

try asking at the dealer or buy a haynes manual ,yes i know the haynes manuals are not very good but they should have a fuse wiring diagram .

1990 Acura Legend, location of main relay for fuel pump

looked it up online, looks like its in the underhood fuse box but couldn't get a good diagram that shows which relay number it is. the website i use is sort of dependent on the manufacturer, apparently acura did not feel like sharing that info. hope that helps

Ignition problem on 1990 acura legend

If it starts with a boost every time it won't start on it's own, it's not the ignition switch. Have you tried removing your connections at the battery, cleaning them good and re-installing them & tighten? Have you noticed any thing common about when no start occurs, like first time of the day, etc? Shouldn't cost anything at autozone or those other autoparts places to get battery load tested, would be a good idea. Any possibility you have access to a multimeter, and know how to use it?

Never go back to that shop!! EVER Just use good quallty 10/30 for cool climates, or 15/40 for warm. Unreal! Frankster016
