Hoe do I fix high fuel consumption in my car?

IN order to improve fuel consumption you must make the engine run more efficiently. here are the most important ways.
typical maintenance. (check the manual)

1. check air in tires
2. oil and oil filter change
3. spark plugs change (TUNE UP)
4. air filter change

you personally can do most of these things. go to local walmart and get most of these items. very easy.

good luck.

Fuel line clog usually at the filter, they never get changed enough!
Broken or bent fuel lines. Sometimes fuel pump in tank and /or fuel pre filter (a filter to get out larger items). Start in the order I described. ( easy to hardest)

Good Luck!

Problems starting as well as cutting oit when at higher speeds loss of power

what vehicle are you talking about. Is there a clogged fuel filter?
Is the air filter clogged? is the fuel pump going. These are usually the prime suspects in what your describing.. Take out the air filter and drive the car a short distance on a DRY day. if it works buy a new filter. next try changing the fuel filters. its cheap and pretty easy on most cars and trucks. can alway it for a video on how to do it yourself. then the worse case is the fuel pump going. Prices range from $100 to $350 and up.

Car was running fine until I stopped at a stop light yesterday. Since then, doesn't want to run when in gear, only in park.

sounds like a furl filter problem. Check online for the make /model in auto repair manuals to find the type and location of the fuel filter. Some are in the tank---HARD TO FIX yourself.- some are inline (in the fuel line) they are easy to replace yourself.

What does the 2003 cherokee jeep needs for tune up.. I have 94,000 mileage on it..

spark plugs, new spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter those are the critical parts. suggest that if you change the fuel filter yourself to get a chilton's auto repair manual for detailed information on the procedures

How much it cost for 100k milles service? Thanks.

If you go to the dealer it will cost you a lot. If you go to an independant it will cost you far less. However, most of the items on a 100k service you can probably do yourself, I would sit down with my owners manual and read over the 100k service, you will be surprised to find it is relatively easy. It would consist of normal things like plugs, wires, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter. Possibly changing the tranny fluid and filter. Possibly flushing the coolant and the brake fluid and basically checking everything over to make sure there are no leaks and everything is functioning properly. If it is recommending a timing belt change I would take it to a tech for that if you dont think you are up to the job, But for the most part you can handle the service yourself and save yourself a bunch of dollars.

Engine cuts out

A few things to check.
  1. Is fuel pump delivering enough fuel.
  2. Is injectors clean. Perhaps dirt in fuel. replace fuel filter
  3. Air leakage at top air intake of manifold at ICV idle control valve. Two hoses inside this housing prone to perishing.
  4. Throttle position sensor faulty.
  5. Mass air flow sensor faulty.
  6. ICV faulty or dirty. comon fault on older e36.
Havent done it yet but ICV is easy to clean according to internet. instruction available at bmw e36 blog. All off above can be tested by yourself according to manual.

I need to change my fuel filter on my 1996 buick roadmaster

Well the good news is is that this is a very easy repair that will take only a few minutes. The fuel filter is located under the car beneath the driver side rear door. You don't need any special tools. I beleive that there are two bolts that hold the filter and that the lines are held on by clamps. I would have a small bucket handy as a little gas will spill out when you take the lines off. write back and tell how it goes.

Yeah this could definitely be the fuel filter, change it yourself and save the cash, it's pretty easy, although you may spill some fuel.
