The alternator. have it tested as if it iis failing the car will run off of whatever voltage is left in the battery until it is consumed as the alternator is supposed to recharge the battery and supply the power for the cars components

Generally when there is a low-voltage or "BATTERY" light on the dash, it is indicating a charging problem. You may need a new alternator. If you have a digital volt-ohm meter, try this to double-check:

Set the DVOM to DC Volts and start the vehicle. Turn on the headlights and the air conditioner to load the electrical system. Now, while the engine is running, test the voltage at the battery. If you are only indicating 12 Volts or less, your alternator should be rebuilt or replaced. If the voltage is indicating around 14-14.9 volts, the diode trio in the alternator is at fault. Again, an auto electric shop will be able to replace this for you and/or rebuild the alternator for you. I'm suggesting the rebuild, as it's much cheaper than buying a new one.

I hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else! :) -Jason

You can have your alternator tested at an auto parts store like Kragen, Napa or Auto Zone for free. This would be my first guess as to a probable cause of your indicator light.

Hope this helps,
matt

My 2002 volvo s80 has to be jumped started every time i turn off keeps running after jumped

Check charging voltage when running. It should be around 14 volts at the battery terminals. If not, even when revving, then change the alternator.

Then check the battery voltage at rest, a few hours after resting that is. The voltage shouldn't be lower than around 12.5.
You can double check battery condition by turning on the vehicle lights and cranking. If the lights dim significantly, then you have a dead battery and you will need to replace it.

New Battery low voltage issue

If the alternator light is on there is a problem in the charging system. Have a local Autozone or O'reilly auto parts test it when the light is on, do not have the test run unless the light is on. I think you have a defective alternator but the meeting should confirm this.

2002 s80 The interior lights on the doors will not go off killing the battery. Just bought car used. What should i do? Thx Elizabeth

For now you can remove the appropriate fuse for the lights. Or unhook the negative cable on battery at night zo it wont drain your battery. But there maybe a short in your wires somewhere that you'll need to have checked out.

Low battery voltage light coming on dash

When that happens, it means that the system voltage is lower (sometimes higher) than it should be. Have your alternator output and battery tested immediately. At best, if you continue to use it like that you can get stranded...at worst you can damage other electrical components in the vehicle. Many larger auto parts stores do that as a free service.

How to adjust power brake booster for 2002 volvo s 80

There is no adjustment to the rod between the brake rod and the booster on a S80. If you are having brake light problems the first place to look is in the trunk for a bad fuse in the rear electrical module behind the cover on the left side.

My battery keeps going dead. I had battery tested as well as alternator and neither of them were bad. But autozone gave me this code p1332.

The code could be your computer sensing a low voltage. It sounds like you have a draw somewhere in the car from something. Like a trunk light, glovebox light or something to that idea. Look at some of these, including under the hood if you have a light there also. To verify a draw you need to hook up a meter in siries through the battery negative cable. Start by looking around to see if it's something simple.
