SOURCE: spare tire drops only about

  • Hi, I can help.
  • Often time the secondary latch sticks. I recommend greasing it up. There was also a technical service bulletin about the. The tires are actually a little big for the space so often a little air does have to be released which make perfect sense to let the air out of a spare when you need it most (mechanic humor).

  • One way to get it down is to stick the female end of the jack in the hole and crack the tire up all the way. Then stick your jack under the tire and crank that up until the tir is completely flush with the under bed. Now take and turn the tire release a few turns. Now **** the jack out and the tire should drop down. Often times a few good kicks may be necessary. What the jacking of the tire does is sort of bypass the secondary latch and let the tire down
  • Once you get it down the grease the secondary latch real well and hopefully this won't be an issue again.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Hi,
Your spare tire is attached usin a cable system under the rear center of the truck. When you open the liftgate, in the center bottom there is a plastic panel with a bolt in the center near the liftgate door jamb lock mechanism. Use your tire lug nut tool to loosen (turn counterclockwise) this bolt and it will loosen the cable system dropping your spare to the ground. Dont forget to tighten the cable back up raising the retainer back to its original position after using the spare. When you get your flat tire fixed, you can drop the cable again and put your spare back under the truck......Mike

How to change the front tire of a Neon 2000?

Loosen the lug nuts. Jack the car up to where the tire is off the ground only slightly. Remove the lug nuts. Pull the old tire off. Put the spare tire on. While holding the spare on, put the lugs back on. Hand tighten them. Drop the car from the jack. Then tighten up the lugs again.

Spare tire does not drop down, comes loose and turns but does not drop down, CABLE IS FREE

I suspect a problem with the winch itself not realeasing the tire down.. If this is so, I believe the spare tire needs to be cut from the cable in order to replace the winch.

Where is spare tire located, i can't find it any where on my 2008 toyato sienna.

Underneath, right side, towards middle. You get it down by putting middle pass. side seat all the way back, pass. seat all the way forward. Pull up the mat, undo the bolt, the spare tire drops. There's a little piece of metal holding the spare tire: take that out and put the tire on.
