Different size shims required

You have to do the measuring of the valve clearance to see what shims are needed to get the required clearance. This is best left to a shop that has a shim kit available. The shims are about $5 each

I'm looking for the Toyota corrola 1.6 4AF engine valve clearance

will need a micrometer, valve clearance adjustment tool set for shimmed lifters, small magnetic arm, appropriate shim selecting charts (manufacturer will have this if you can get the nec. measurements).
Measure thickness of shims removed (using micrometer) and use this formula where T=Thickness of old shim; A=Valve clearance measured; N=Thickness of new shim required.
Intake valves: N = T + (A - 0.02 mm (0.008 in.)) Exh. valves: N = T + (A - 0.25 mm (0.010 in.))
Then you need to find shims as close as possible to the calculated values.
Valve clearances (cold) are as follows: Intake0.15 - 0.25 mm (0.006 - 0.010 in.) Exhaust0.20 - 0.30 mm (0.008 - 0.012 in.)
Note, if you are not familiar with precision measuring using a micrometer, this may be better left to a trained tech. These are high revving little power plants and you don't want a problem at 8K rpm.

Valve clearances

With such a late model car I suspect you have hydraulic tappets which means the clearance is automatically adjusted when you start

Valve Clearances inlet and exhaust

j24b engine D.O.H.C.
U.S.A?
open hood , look up. see white sticker, see clearances.?
off online F.S.M
Valve clearance specification when cold :
59 to 77deg F or 15 to 25deg C (engine temps)
Intake: 0.0063 to 0.0094 inch (0.16 to 0.24mm)
Exhaust: 0.0123to 0.0153 inch (0.31to 0.39mm)
you must remove the bucket, tappet , to change lash.
MIKE IT (that means a micrometer)
then buy shims or new buckets to fit. (generic answer)
the book says buy correct tappet after measuring, yours.
and it's out of range, and doing the math first.

that is it.

How to adjust the valves on a 1993 toyota camry 2.2

It is not an easy process. It has cam buckets with shims under the cam lobes. You need to adjust them with different thickness shims. you need to measure the clearances then change the shims to adjust them. This may be able to be done with a special tool to hold down the valve otherwise the cam shafts need to be removed. I would reccomend checking the clearances whilst the valve bucket is at the back of the cam and if the clearance is close to that reccomended it will be ok. If they are out a long way have a Toyota specialist adjust them. Often they will not need adjusting for the life of the engine.

Valve timing check

Chain drive. Unless the engine's been apart, why would the cam/valve timing change?
Valve clearances are another matter, and unless you want to remove the camshafts, get a mechanic who has the proper Suzuki tool to do them for you. You can measure the clearances, but the shims are between the cam lobe and the valve bucket, and the special tool holds the bucket down whilst changing to a thicker or thinner shim.
