Hey I had the same problem with my roadmaster. Your motor probably went bad. You can go to a Buick dealer and buy a new one$$ or go to a junk yard and get an used one $. keep in mind, a used one might burn out too or may already be burned out. This is what I did: Note; look at it closely first so you can put it back! If you unscrew the small trunk motor from your trunk (three black screws on it's right side) the trunk catch screws down easy by hand and you can adjust it to the right hight (note if you lower it too far, it won't catch and youl have to higher it). then all you have to do is put it back in making sure the silver trunk catch is in it's gruve. All your remote and trunk releases will still work the same way. The only difference is that instead of pushing the trunk till it catches and lowers itself like it used to, you have to shut it like a regular trunk. Good news is if your just a little handy, it won't cost a dime. Good luck took me 10 mins.

Mine was not functioning properly, it would work sporadically, mostly NOT. I followed what you did and I now have a great working manual trunk, thanks for the advice. Unfortunatly i replaced the electric motor 1st off ebay for 45$, the problem was somewhere in the wiring, did not feel like putting alot of time into a fix so a motor would close my trunk, so a manual close trunk is great.

HOW TO TURN OFF THE TRUNK OPEN ALARM

The 2012 Camry's trunk lid has a 'trunk open' alarm that shows up on the instrument panel as 'door open' red icon. It also turns on the door open beeping sound so long as the trunk lid is open. This is normal and is usually not a problem..

However, if you should need to carry a large item in the trunk and can't close the lid, be prepared to listen to the incessant door open sound with no means to turn it off!!

The trunk lid alarm 'switch' is operated by the trunk latch when you open or close the lid. By manually operating the latch to it's closed position, you can temporarily silence the alarm.

Using a small screwdriver, you can easily press the actuator and turn the alarm off.

**WARNING**
YOU MUST RETURN THE ACTUATOR TO THE OPEN POSITION (ABOVE)
(ALARM ON) BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE LID. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DAMAGE THE LATCHING MECHANISM
**WARNING**

DO THIS WITH THE TRUNK OPEN LEVER OR WITH THE REMOTE TRUNK OPEN BUTTON.

IF YOU TRY TO CLOSE THE LID WITH THE LATCH IN THIS POSITION YOU MAY DAMAGE OR BREAK THE LATCHING MECHANISM

You need to replace that latch, I think the return spring must be broken.

How can I close the trunk manually?

Sounds like the pull-down motor is not working. You may need to disconnect the latch and remove the motor or fix it to get the trunk lid completely closed.

My trunk will not close completely it will lock but it does not secure flush as normal at it will not allow me to push it close shut please help in this issue

Your vehicle has what we call a trunk pull down motor. The silver bar on the body of the car is attached to this. When you close your trunk, it latches and then this motor is supposed to pull the trunk closed the rest of the way. You will need to replace this motor assembly. When purchasing the replacemeny motor, make sure it comes with the black switch with the little flapper on it, as this is the part of the assembly that fails.

Trunk will not close all the way down on my 1992 buick riveria

These units have a trunk actuator pull down motor that after you close the trunk the actuator pulls the trunk lid down to the closed position,These units failed quite often 90 % of the time the only problem was the $20.00 switch that's sits on to of the actuator, not the $300.00 actuator assembly. this part is easy to replace it has only one screw holding it, and the switch sits right on to of the actuator.

Trunk does not completely close

The trunk latch contains a switch which closes when the trunk lid is pushed closed by hand, then this switch sends power to the trunk lid pull down motor which then finishes closing the trunk lid. Often the switch or motor will go bad and the whole thing will stop working. It takes a little testing to figure out which part is at fault but they are usually quite easy to fix.

My trunk wont close all the way

Hi,
Is the lock grabbing the sticker? You may have a stuck actuator holding the lock plate open or closed. Check operation. If it does lock and will not pull down to close completely you need to replace the pull down switch.

Rear trunk lid wont close

There's an electronic actuator inside the trunk door. The actuator opens the trunk lid when you press either the remote keyless entry or the inside trunk release. If the electronic actuator fails it usually fails in the trunk open mode which will not allow you to close the trunk lid. You can either remove the actuator and take the car to the VW dealer, or buy a new actuator and replace it yourself. It's a tough fix, but not impossible for the mechanically inclined.
