The dash on my 98 deville displays "serv stability sys". whats wrong?

Service stability system.

There is no way that I can properly answer this question unless you can give me a lot more information. I need to know year, make, model, engine size, mileage, maintenance history, other problems the car is having or needs, and the condition of the body. With that information, I can give you a better idea if this car is worth investing in. The problem itself, sounds like a failure in the charging system. My first guess would be that you need a new alternator. The charging system needs to be looked at to see if something caused the alternator to fail besides "Wear and Tear". Its hard to guess but I will say that if you need diagnostics, a battery, and an alternator, it may cost around $500.00 I hope that helps. If I can be of any more assistance, please write back. Whenever this warning or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module has detected a fault, it then disables the system as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Their not sending the computer out

Their are sending the instrument cluster out for repair

Get one from a salvage yard,I wouldn't spend that kind
of money

You have Malfunction Indicator Lamp lite on your dash,
I assume for some time & ask if you have checked for the
ABS Braking System Codes,since the Stability Light is on

I will assume you have no owners manual & haven't given
much thought to going to a repair shop within a couple of days
of any vehicle issue

Need the codes,then have a shop diagnose that systems problems

Could be a Wheel Speed Sensor,or not

no it's the compressor that keeps your car level that is going bad.have your garage check it out.

what does this mean when the stability sys.light come on what repairs if any is needed ?

press and hold the off and red warmer button on your ac control panel / the display should then go into diagnostic mode.  all the trouble codes can be read out to help in tracing down the problem. you can also read out other info by pressing the temp up or down button when in diag. mode.   press the off button when your done.

you have a bad senser have to check each wheel well you could have a bad computer also
