How is your engine at idle? It should be not less than 700 RPM. 1-If it is not then you can raise it up. 2-If your idle is OK then need to have transmission checked for torque converter lockup problem.

My 99 jimmy with a 4L60E, on a downshift (kickdown) at highway speed or any speed really when downshift by pressing down the accelarator or downshifting by hand the tansmission feels like it's in neutral,...

First off there may be nothing wrong. At highway speed, the trans will shift down to 1st, but you won't feel it. If should feel like neutral. Does it shift normally when your "wide open throttle" from standstill? If it shifts properly in this situation, then your fine, don't worry. How about wide open throttle at say 25mph? how about 35 and 45? anything over that and its gonna feel like neutral. IF your convinced that your passing gear is not working right, it could mean that its out of adjustment, and needs a little more push, more throw, or kinda like adjusting the rod out a little bit further. Adjust your "passing gear linkage" or kickdown as you imply. Second guess would be low on transmisison fluid, filter, and last, the transmissoin control selonoid. Again I suggest its doing just fine, if it shifts down at any speed.

Well, you did a really good job of describing the symptoms, but you didn't do so well describing the car. Are we talking about an automatic or standard transmission? are we talking about a four or six cylinder engine? You are asking about a drivetrain problem without giving any information about what drivetrain the vehicle is equipped with.

With all that said, IF we are talking about an automatic transmission being pushed by a V-6 engine, then there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that matches the symptoms you are describing. In this case, the problem is most likely being caused by a deformed or damaged exhaust pipe "A" mounting bracket.

Inspect the rubber bracket for cracks or torn rubber. If the bracket is damaged replace the bracket. Bend the stud on the exhaust pipe if necessary to get the stud to go through the bracket as straight as possible so the stud does not "ground" against the sides of the bracket. (see diagram)

1997 magna transmission vibration at 80k

First check your transmission fluid level before doing any test. Make certain this is not a speed vibration from the wheels by shifting the lever into 2 instead of D and reaching the speed you are having vibration at (as long as it is safe and you are not over reving the engine). While at that speed shift into D and let the transmission go into it's normal gear ranges and take note if the vibration occurs. I've seen (felt) this type of vibration many times on vehicles where the fluid is low. Adding fluid to the proper level solved this issue on some but on others there was existing transmission wear that this would not help. This doesn't mean the entire transmission is bad as the valve body inside the transmission fluid pan can sometimes cause this. Swapping out the valve body can be pricey but not as pricey as a new transmission and sometimes cheaper then having a used transmission installed.

1996 Dodge Ram 1500 vibration while driving only felt from drivers seat

No the idle issue is not the TPS, it is a sludged up throttle valve and automatic idle speed control air bypass valve. The procedure below should cure the idle issue. As far as the vibration goes this needs a hands on diagnosis by a good noise and harness trained tech, tire shops are good for this technican as well of course the Dodge dealer. Find below the cleaning procedure for the throttle valve and idle valve
Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (it is made by CRC) from the local auto parts store, NEVER USE CARB CLEANING SPRAY, IT DESTROYS THE ANTI-STICK TEFLON COATING, spray it into the air intake through the throttle body of the engine until you have used about half the can, you will need to hold the idle up while you do this, it will try to stall, after this shut the engine down and disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for 5 minutes. The intake is now clean, if you continue to have the idle speed control problems you may need to seek the help of a professional

Yes i have a 96 cadillac deville i just bought i cant feel it shifting. It goes right into gear and goes down the road but dont feel it shifting.

Try manually shifting it and see if you can feel it shifting. You should be able to.Then just drive it in drive light normal and see if you can feel it.Usually you will get a check engine light or have the transmission codes checked if you do feel it.Sometimes these transmissions are very smooth.Hope this helps.

Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.

one unit that operates ratio changes and is connected to the engine is that vacuum operated actuator on the transmission
it is possible that that unit is failing , vacuum hose is leaking and that will cause ratio changes as the vacuum varies
run the fault codes to check for wiring problems or VSS or TCM problems as well

I am going on vacation so I hope this helps,
Surely since its a car-borated engine with numerous vacuum lines, one vacuum line could be leaking causing this condition.
Setting that aside for now you could have a skewed T.C.C. valve. Thats the transmission converter clutch valve. It locks up the transmission torque converter to aid in fuel mileage at speeds above around 40 mph. The unit is normally locked out of 1st gear. When it acts up it applies at the higher speeds but doesn't disengaged. This will cause the engine to stall. The feeling to the driver is quite distinctive. The normally is a shaking or vibration felt the moment before the engine stalls, it could feel like a shutter not unlike the sensation one feels when driving a stick shift and comes to a stop in gear without depressing the clutch petal. The hole thing is controlled by the engine computer. There is a connector on the transmission which is normally square with 4 receptacles, disconnect it and drive the car as you normally would. See if it stops stalling. If so you need to replace the solenoid. Its located in the transmission under the transmission pan. This a long shot but without inspecting all the vacuum lines and numerous other sup-systems its well worth looking at a could be a fast test. Just unplug it and drive it normally
