You can get parts at autoanything.com, local part stores should carry enough tubing. You can do this without dropping the tank. Just relieve fuel pressure by removing gas cap, then unplug hose at front end first and drain access gas in a suitable container.

You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for your car.

Failed smog test ; gross air leak at vapor recovery system. Replaced gas cap from parts house with a dealer supplied gas cap and the gross leak is gone but a minor air leak is...

If you just want to get through the smog test, they usually allow one monitor test to be incomplete and still pass.
If your area does, clear the codes and fill the fuel tank to the top.The other monitors should run and complete but the fuel tank monitor will not run with a full tank of gas so will not turn on the check engine light related to a tank vac leak.KEEP THE TANK FULL,and go get your smog test!

Didn't pass smog due to fuel leak? It passed the emission part of the smog test, however failed because of gas vapors leaking from the fuel system. What should I check first to locate the leak?

Fuel tankes have only one large acess on the top i sugest checkin the rubber gasket for cracks or perishing also check along the fuel lines for damp spots use your nose to locat the strongest area of gas then go from there hope this helps:)

My gas tank leaks. How do I go about replacing it? It seems to have three fuel lines to the tank. One is a small diameter line and the other two are larger, I am assuming one of these might be a return...

if you take and clamp off the hoses and remove them from the tank, then support the fuel tank, remove the fuel tank holding straps then lower the tank, disconnect the wiring and make sure there is nothing else connected to the fuel tank, remove fuel tank transfer any components to the new tank and re-install.

How to replace fuel pump

Fuel pump is a complete assembly set inside the fuel tank. You'll need to drop the tank, (you might want to remove the gas FIRST) unplug the wiring, disconnect battery, all fuel, return, and vapor lines, etc. You should get someone experienced if this is your first time. It's a big job.

2000 lincoln navigator unable to bleed up fuel

I think I would try the easiest thing to fix and then see how much straightened out. The fuel tank vacuum will probably be a gas cap not on tight or defective or a gas vapor line has a hole in it. You may need a smoker to find that leak if the gascap is okay,

Bank 1 should have cylinders 1,2,3,4. Since 3 cylinders that are in the same bank are misfiring it must be lack of fuel or bad spark. The tester said that bank was lean. If the plugs were not firing it would be rich with unburned fuel. The tester also indicated the other fuel tank vacuum bleed problem.

You might try the power connector for the Bank 1 injectors or check the injector wiring for #2,3,and 4 to see if they are getting power.

Remember to clear the diagnostic meter to see if the trouble codes return. Would be interested in the outcome.

When I go to fill up the gas tank the gas keeps cutting off at the pump handle and I have to slow the gas pump to a trickle in order to fill the tank.

The problem is that your gas tank "pushes back" like it's full even when it isn't and makes the fuel valve click off. Tom and Ray on Car Talk covered this in a 2007 show and I pasted some of their response below:

"RAY: This condition is probably caused by either a blockage in your gasoline vapor recovery lines or a bad refueling control valve.

TOM: Gasoline vaporizes. How do we know that? Well, when gasoline is spilled, you can smell it, right? What you're smelling is vaporized gasoline.

RAY: And in the old days, when you filled up your tank, all the air inside the tank -- the air filled with gasoline vapors -- came whooshing out through the filler hole or through a vent at the top of the gas tank.

TOM: But then people in places like Los Angeles realized they couldn't see the person standing next to them due to smog. And since gasoline vapors contribute to smog, car makers were forced to install devices to capture those vapors.

RAY: So now each car has a vapor recovery unit that collects the gasoline vapors from the tank and then, the next time the car is started, sends them to the engine, where they're combusted. Your vapor recovery system isn't working, Lottie. One possibility is that one of the rubber hoses is blocked or collapsed."

Check engine light is on for emission evaporator failure-large

P0455 - EVAP Control System Leak Detected (No Purge Flow or Large Leak) The PCM monitors the complete EVAP control system for no purge flow, the presence of a large fuel vapor leak or multiple small fuel vapor leaks. The system failure occurs when no purge flow (attributed to fuel vapor blockages or restrictions), a large fuel vapor leak or multiple fuel vapor leaks are detected by the EVAP running loss monitor test with the engine running (but not at idle).
  • After-market EVAP hardware (such as fuel filler cap) non-conforming to required specifications
  • Disconnected or cracked fuel EVAP canister tube, EVAP canister purge outlet tube or EVAP return tube
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed
  • Damaged EVAP canister
  • Damaged or missing fuel filler cap
  • Insufficient fuel filler cap installation
  • Loose fuel vapor hose/tube connections to EVAP system components
  • Blockages or restrictions in fuel vapor hoses/tubes (items also listed under disconnections or cracks)
  • Fuel vapor control valve tube assembly or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked
  • Canister vent (CV) solenoid stuck open
  • Mechanically inoperative fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor
Check for audible vacuum noise or significant fuel odor in the engine compartment or near the EVAP canister and fuel tank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- HX43 DTC P0457: CHECK FOR MISSING OR LEAKING FUEL FILLER CAP
  • Check for missing fuel filler cap.
  • Check for loose fuel filler cap.
  • Check for possible cross-thread fuel filler cap condition.
Is a fault present concerning the proper installation of the fuel filler cap? Yes No REPLACE cross-threaded or damaged fuel filler cap. RECONNECT and TIGHTEN the fuel filler cap only one eighth turn so that the cap initially clicks by sound or touch. CLEAR Continuous Memory DTCs. COMPLETE an Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle (refer to Section 2 , Drive Cycles). RERUN Quick Test . If DTC P0455 or P0457 is present, Go to HX44 . CLEAR Continuous Memory DTCs. COMPLETE an Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle (refer to Section 2 , Drive Cycles). RERUN Quick Test .

For DTC P0455 still present: Go to HX44 .

Otherwise, INFORM the vehicle owner that it is important and necessary to immediately install the fuel filler cap after every refueling event. HX44 DTC P0455: VISUAL INSPECTION FOR SUBSTANTIAL EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAKS
  • Check for missing fuel filler cap. If the cap is loose DO NOT DISTURB EVAP system.
  • Verify that both the input port vacuum hose and EVAP return tube are attached to the EVAP canister purge valve. Note: If the EVAP canister-CV solenoid assembly is not accessible during this pinpoint test step, GO to Evaporative Emissions, Section 303-13 in the Workshop Manual for removal and installation instructions.
  • Verify that the CV solenoid is properly seated on the EVAP canister (if possible).
  • Visually inspect for disconnected or cracked fuel vapor hoses/tubes between the intake manifold, the EVAP canister purge valve, the EVAP canister, the fuel vapor vent valve assembly and if applicable the fuel vapor control valve tube assembly.
  • Check for damage to the fuel filler pipe and the fuel tank.
Is a fault indicated? Yes No CONNECT or REPLACE fuel vapor hoses/tubes as required. REPLACE damaged EVAP system components (fuel filler pipe, fuel vapor vent valve assembly, fuel vapor control valve tube assembly, EVAP canister purge valve, FTP sensor and EVAP canister-CV solenoid assembly) as necessary. REFER to Evaporative Emissions, Section 303-13 in the Workshop Manual for removal and installation instructions. GO to HX45 . GO to HX45 . HX45 DTC P1443 and P0455: CHECK FOR EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAKS
Note: When checking for leaks or blockages in the EVAP system, energize (close) the canister vent (CV) solenoid through the scan tool for a maximum of nine minutes per pinpoint test step. Then de-energize the CV solenoid prior to performing the subsequent pinpoint test step. This is done to assure proper closing of the solenoid.
  • Disconnect and plug the EVAP return tube (EVAP canister purge valve to intake manifold) at the intake manifold vacuum source.
  • Connect scan tool.
  • Key on, engine off.
  • Access VPWR PID. If the voltage is not 12 volts or greater, GO to HX61 .
  • Locate evaporative test port [marked EVAPORATIVE SERVICE PORT DO NOT USE UNREGULATED PRESSURE ABOVE 6.89 kPa (1 PSI)] near EVAP canister purge valve or EVAP canister.
  • If vehicle is not equipped with the evaporative test port, GO to HX50 .
  • Install the Rotunda Evaporative Emission System Leak Tester 310-F007 (134-00056) or equivalent at the evaporative test port.
  • Close CV solenoid by accessing Output Test Mode on the scan tool.
  • Select ALL OFF mode and push START button.
  • Regulate the nitrogen or argon gas pressure on the tester to 3.48 kPa (14 in-H 2 O).
  • Follow the instructions that come with the EVAP System Leak Tester and pressurize the EVAP system.
  • Perform the EVAP system leak test.
Does the pressure on the EVAP system stay above 1.99 kPa (8 in-H 2 O) and pass the leak test? Yes No GO to HX46 . REMOVE the EVAP System Leak Tester from the evaporative test port and REINSTALL the test port cap. GO to HX50 .
