Why is it not getting fuel?

What make vehicle do you have ? Some makes incorporate a FPDM - fuel pump driver module . Fords have a inertia fuel cut off switch. I suggest you go to youtube an check out some basic electrical trouble shooting videos an then go to for a wiring diagram an check the fuel pump electrical circuit . Here is a video testing a GM fuel pump circuit . just for instance . GM Fuel Pump Relay Testing If you want to work on modern vehicles you really need to lean basic testing procedures . Not just replacing parts.

96 s10 2.2 man 2 wd code 440 ?

A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) of P0440 is telling you that your vehicles computer (PCM) has detected a leak somewhere in your vehicles EVAP system. A little information on the function of the EVAP system; when your vehicle pumps fuel to the engine basically it builds up pressure that is sent back to the fuel tank and then that pressure is sent back towards the engine and is stored in a canister usually under the vehicle by the fuel tank. That pressure is sucked out of the canister by the vacuum of the engine...into the intake system of the engine and out the exhaust. That's a basic way of putting how the system works. What P0440 is saying is that somewhere in that EVAP system is a leak. About half the time it is a faulty gas cap. Due to the age of the vehicle that's the most likely cause. If the seal to the gas cap looks good and it seems to tighten up good when put on, you will want to check all the lines and seals at some of the solenoids and hose connections in that system. Also check the canister itself for cracks. If able to hit on the canister or even remove it and shake it. There is charcoal that seems to be real loose like there is a bunch of little rocks in the canister, you may have a blockage in the system and the back pressure is blown out which in turn makes a leak. If I remeber correctly the evap canister is behind the fuel tank but still on that left side more. It's kind of hard to miss. Hope this helps you.....

If your are a 5.0 you have a TBI (throttle body injection) have some one cranks it you should be able to see fuel spray into the intake, during the start up, if it doesnt then you have a fuel issue,if your a a 6 cylinder you are a multi port and the fuel injector shoots directly into each owns cylinder, either way I do believe you have a fuel pump issue, when you buy a fuel pump for this vehicle it comes with a fuel pump harness repair kit and that is supposed to be changed,

As with most fuel injected vehicles. Most fuel pumps are in the tank, I am going by this generally acccepted design. The fuel is pumped into the fuel rail, by a fuel regulator valve, most of the time, kinda looks like a little space ship, some electrically controlled, some by vacuum. If you find it, trace the wire for a short, or vacuum hose, for a leak, blockage. Next if all that is in order, check the retyurn line from the fuel rail, back to the tank. Unused gas is recycled back to the tank. As only minimal fuel is returned back to the tank, sometimes the lines, steel, or plastic, are put in places, where thay can easily be crushed,(blocked) by jacking the car up. Did this issue begin to occur after the vehicle was on a lift??? Where did you place your jack, to get to the fuel pump??? Did anything collapse/crush at that time???

Check the fuel pressure regulator, and the fuel return line all the way back to the fuel tank, one ,or the other is stopped up,or the fuel regulator is closed up.I would check the fuel return line first, this is the most likely problem.

After removing the fuel injectors and rail to remove the manifold, how do you reinstall the fuel injectors?

the same way you took it apart. put a little grease around the rubber seals so they will slide in easier. just tap on the fuel rail while lightly tapping it into place.
